I am a 62 yearold African American woman born and raised in the poorest communities of Chicago.
But gat dang it, I ran across one of your videos and was immediately hooked,
I watched them all. Hope you don't mind.

Can we talk about the kids at school who wear the beanies and hoodies all year long like even in 100° degree heat in the summer 😂

They are more like guidelines than actual rules, but it usually feels nicer to follow this set of "rules"

Real cowboys got one hat and wear it everywhere all the time and they only have one season. Work season

I wear a felt hat all the time. And I wear overalls all the time. I believe that what you wear doesn't make you a cowboy. What makes a cowboy is work ethic, heart, good manners. A horse or cow, don't care what you are wearing. Just wear whatever is comfortable.

You know as a Mexican I always grew up knowing that felts and straw hats could be used whenever

I've always been told the switch from straw to felt is after the first frost of the season.

Felts season starts after Labor Day to Easter, then straw season after that.

I only have a felt hat, but it’s got some airflow through the top and it’s great year round tbh
(I’m also someone who doesn’t like the straw hats-)

I wear a black 20x Resistol most of the time, 20x Silver Belly for dressin' up or upscale events, straw Bangora if working outside in summer.

Felt year round for me. Getting a good sweat makes it fit much better. Over 100 is straw only. Usually ball cap when in the hay field or working cows.

I live and work on a cattle ranch, I have one cowboy hat and one hard hat. The cowboy hat is a brown felt hat with a flat brim like the original cowboys, to keep the sun and rain off my shoulders. I prefer the Montana Peak or Gus Crease but last time I bought a hat I couldn't find anything but the Mesa Top style. It'll collect rain water but I'll survive

When I was a little tyke I wore a felt hat daily and that meant outside all day in the summer. I lost my hat and the next I played outside without it. That night and the next day I was sick from over exposure to the sun.

I completely understand why ppl do this! It’s just not for me I’m a felt girl all the way around ig it’s just how I was raised my dad said he worked with a guy who said”never hire someone who’s wearing a straw hat, cuz they’ll be chasing that hat around the paster”😂 but def not hating on nobody just don’t be surprised when u see me wearing a felt in the summer🤣

I’d still wear a straw hat in “winter” here in the Deep South of TX
It’s never cold anyway

I see it more as Akubra all year.
Just different ones,
Work Akubra( worn battered )
Sale yard and race day Akubra ( the next in line for work hat)
Wedding/ funeral/ town hat ( yep next you guessed it next inline for sale yard Akubra.
Ps; any of the them can be worn to the pub 🍻
