I'm always taken aback when I hear some people say African Americans don't have a culture. What comes to my mind is they don't know what culture is.

African Americans have ALWAYS had a culture and a history. Yes, they had to create a patchwork quilt from the many disparate ethnicities that were pushed together but they all knew they were Africans (in the sense that they weren't indigenous to America). They combined their cultural norms and knowledge and created something aknew. Because one thing about Us, you can TRY to strip Us of Our Culture, Our History, Our Heritage. We will find a way. Just because We don't have the cultural practices of Africans, doesn't mean We of the Diaspora have no Culture.

There’s a difference between black British African and black British carribean. Black British carribeans also had s|ave trade. Black British Africans are the ones that tend to ask for more information about your background because they actually know their lineage and assume you would too.

I find this a little misleading for the clicks.
Caribbean heritage British people were transported from Africa, enslaved by Europeans same as most black Americans.
I'm British and recently asked a North American where she was from, (I meant where in the US its a big place) she later told me she considers this question a micro aggression. We're both black, her recent heritage is African but i wasn't even asking that! I didn't really get it.
I think it can be a misinterpretation of the question due to preconceptions . A jamaican can't say where they're from in Africa same as a black American can't. It's many ancestors from many many regions.
I think he knows this but wants the clicks. But stirring division is a terrible way to get that.
