Pancreatitis is a disease in which the pancreas becomes inflamed and painful, and the most common type is acute pancreatitis. It’s a disease that can be difficult to assess, and even more challenging to treat.

We’re going over the pathophysiology of pancreatitis, as well as some lab results you may see on your patients experiencing this condition.

I’ve been a nurse for 6 years and I find this VERY helpful. What happens is you drink this information in nursing school to pass the tests, pass the NCLEX (which is really about knowing how to answer the questions), and you get on the floor and completely forget the in’s and outs of each disease process. Working on a hospital floor becomes about surviving the shift itself, that’s it. You don’t have much time to educate patients and really think about each patient’s sicknesses. So I say that to say it’s refreshing to go back to nursing school videos and refresh my knowledge in this way. It makes going back to work more purposeful. Thank you Michael!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 (You helped in NS a lot by the way).

Mike I just passed my NCLEX in 75 questions. I got 3 pancreatitis questions that I answered right by watching this video. I can’t thank you enough! ❤

I just failed the NCLEX. I cannot begin to articulate the level of embarrassment and heartache I'm feeling. I'm confident that I will be a good nurse. I just need to get past this, move on and persevere.

Simply amazing! simple nursing explanation. Again, I can't forget turn the patient Turner's(flank) sign and letter C for Cullen(belly button) sign. Mike you're the best! Kudos👌👍

Mike go ahead and drop that review link because I just passed in 75 and this program is the reason I got through nursing school with a lot more ease than I would have otherwise. I am not sure a subscription is worth it over youtube but I'll shout about SN from the hilltops. Thank you.

According to a Saunder's SATA question when asking which medications would be used for a patient with acute pancreatitis, it said that morphine WOULD be used to treat pain. When looking at my Med-Surg texbook by Ignatavicius and Workman, it says that "All opioids may cause some degree of sphincter of Oddi spasm, " including Dilaudid. Perhaps for the NCLEX morphine is not okay? Be sure to check with your instructor for your nursing exams. Otherwise, great video per usual. Thank you for all that you do!
