Before I left FL this year, Citizens sent me a non-renewal notice for my soffits. This is after I replaced the roof, installed gutters and updated the windows. I had to spend $3k replacing a portion of my soffits on my small house. Living in FL was fun at 1st, but it became too expensive.

You were talking about replacing the washer and dryer. I never replace the dryer but I always make sure the washer is white like the dryer. You don't need a fancy dryer and they last forever. All a dryer is, is a heating element, a belt that turns the drum attached to the motor. It tumbles the clothes and fluffs them as they dry. That is all they do. My dryer I bet is 25 years old or older (a maytag). So for all you out there save money if your dryer is working fine.

These insurance companies don't want to insure anybody but they are just fine taking the money every month. It's a gamble at this point that if you've always paid your insurance and never even had a claim but all of a sudden they go bust and all you get is a big "so sorry". That's crap

It'll be interesting to see what happens w/ my two insurance premiums at renewal in 4 months for one property and the other 4 months after that. I read this morning that the tally is in from Hurricane Ian in FL from last Fall. 85% of the claims have been processed and thousands of the homeowners who filed, have and will receive nothing. So, carrying insurance means nothing. They always find loopholes in order not to pay which is awful.

If you have equity in your home, sell the house, buy a property outright. Get rid of the banks, get rid of the insurance company, install offgrid power and get rid of the power company, put rain tanks on your property and use your roof as a catchment and get rid of the water company. You have now plugged all of the holes in the sieve that is your bank account. Use savings to create your own disaster fund.

Texas homeowners are getting non-renewal notices also. And other states are seeing this too. A friend in Colorado lives there and is not near a forest. But they have grasslands nearby and that is a fire risk because the state is drying up and last years' fires in Boulder that took at whole neighborhoods in a day.

I sold my house in Lauderhill because of tax, home insurance and flood insurance issues I hate looking for a new insurance coverage every single year. I’m in central Florida now living stress free.

If you live in Coral Gables you are not allowed to clear your yard. My yard looks like an empty lot from the air. The best part of having a dumpy house is that when you petition the VAB they almost always lower the property value. Thankfully I am handy so my appliances are ones I found on the side of the road and fixed up. My roof and windows are from the 1950's but there's nothing like patching things up every year.

I'm in San Diego County, California. Same neighborhood for decades. Each year my property insurance has gone up. This year my policy cost more than doubled, with no changes to the house. Great, they didn't drop me, but the increase is insane.

I remember when I was young and I got premium health insurance. When I quit my job, I thought I should get a refund for what I paid since I didn’t use it at all. 😂. I was so mad, young and stupid. But I learned a lesson on the joke of the insurance pool we pay for. I paid for someone else.

No wonder all my insurance policies have gone up and I'm in Georgia! Insurance companies need more money from us since they are canceling places like Florida and Cali. Regulators need to pay attention.

My friend who lives in Brandon FL just got dropped because his roof is ten years old. He had a chance a year ago to get his roof replaced by a storm chaser. But he didn't do it because he felt bad and didn't want to take advantage of his insurance. Now they dropped him. Guess he should have filed a claim and got his roof replaced.

Here in RI my house is worth about $350, 000 and my homeowners insurance is $900.00 per year. Nine hundred. But we have no floods or tornados and almost no hurricanes. And good weather 8 months out of the year. And right on the ocean. And little oppressive heat. And no bugs or alligators or snakes. My property taxes with all exemptions is 1, 900.00 per year with a double lot and two car garage. But we are one of the most corrupt states.
