I was stationed with Pershing from the beginning of the PII to its final hurrah and disassembly. A greater group of soldiers I will never meet.

I was stationed with Pershing 1A from 1976 to 1980, at Schwabisch Gmund (Svc Btry 1/41) and White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where I was assigned to assist R&D on the Pershing 2. Pershing was a world of it's own within the Army.

My father was a commander of a truck with SS-22 SCUD in late 80’s in czechoslovakia somewhere on the border with Austria (he was btw forced to be there he wasn’t any kind of communist)

A Battery 1/81st FA, 56th FA Brigade Neu Ulm 1 A was worn out and a hassle but these new P2's were a dream in comparison. My VERY FIRST field exercise was Able Archer with the old had no clue how close we came to igniting ww3.

on YT there is a video about Soviet icbm from the 70s and I am sure that this is how the hull building process was presented, whereby the machine automatically wound the carbon fibers into a kind of internal mold. Apparently nothing unusual, if it were not for the fact that it was a huge facility and carbon fiber must have been a complete novelty not available on the civil market.

Well, Pershing is MUCH smaller (more mobile) and much more accurate. As such, it might be usable with a conventional warhead due being more accurate. SS-20... not so much.

Pershing was definitely a way more accurate missile, but I guess once those go off the hook it gets bad quick
