I worked on the Pershing missile. Every-time that alarm went off you never knew if it was a real launch or just a test.

I was stationed at Wackerheim in 1967-68. I left Germany 8/1968 as an E-5 in D Battery, 1/81st Artillery, Capt. Larry Jarvis Commanding officer. I'm trying to find photos or ANY information of our Pershing Battalions in that era. I am finding hardly any mention of any Pershing battery at Wackerheim in '67-'68. I trained at Fort Sill (2nd/44th Pershing Training) and we successfully fired track vehicle launched 1's from Blanding Utah to White Sands in the fall of 1966. Every thing posted on-line seems to start with the move to Neu Ulm in 8/1968 with the new Pershing II truck mounted system. That move of my unit actually began 1 or 2 weeks after I rotated back to "The State's". I know I/we were there in '67... I have pictures. I was assigned to be the Battery Commander's Driver immediately on arrival to 1/81. That experience as lead jeep in an on-alert convoy, gave me the opportunity when we were NOT on alert, to drive the "Survey Crew" chief around to confirm the presence of pre-surveyed firing site location markers. (Locals had a habit of removing markers they found as they strolled through the woods on week ends)

If you can, please provide me with any sites that would provide information about Pershing units during that 1966-1968 time period.
