In this week's Tips & Tricks video, I'm going to be explaining how best to get the Three Mountains achievement using the Colonization strategy.
If this helped you, please give it a like, as well as a subscribe if you want to see more Tips & Tricks and other Paradox Let's Plays!

This strategy is my favourite way of starting a Three Mountains achievement run, mostly because I love colonizing. Make sure to look forward to next week's video wherein I explain the Colonization exploit I mentioned in this video.

Nice summary. Also good you still include the "soft" version of the old
DDR Jake exploit. I have some experience with Three mountains early game
- thou not in the later stages: You defintily sell the galleys - 3 to
ming 2 to korea. It will give you aditional 30 Ducaats. Also you should
assign your King Shinzo McCraplord directly to be general. With a bit of
luck he dies around 1452 or so. In all my attempts that was around the
time this annoying pric bit the grass. Aditionally I am not sure about
developing the island so early. I usually wait until 1450 and do it on
philipins directly. If you do it before 1450 you waste a lot of
important points. You will have enough money eitherway from my
expierience. I usually had between 100-150 before i started colonizing.
Thou - in my recent attempt ming exploded so early that my tradeincome
went down the drain ... so its really nice for the later game but in the
early game a real burden to have Ming explode like that since more
nations in Beijing node means less income for little ryukyu.

Great video. This was the only acheivment I was missing until my account went missing. I tried about 5 times before an update corrupted the one I had gone furthest in.

I think you can sell your galleys to ming or korea to get some extra money. You can also vassalize those southeast asian minors with colonists so they can fill those areas for you.

You waited to "buy" Renaissance until you got all monarch points. I think it's more efficient to improve you province to get Renaissance as soon as possible. You get more income.

Why do you wait from 1450 til you have all the points instead of assigning whenever you have enough in any category to increase by 1, so you also get the income from it?

What's the button to the bottom right of the country shield? I haven't played EU4 in a while and I seem to have missed that feature.

What colonial policy do you choose? Quite important question and you didn't say anything regarding that.

@Aldra Hill So I looked at the institution, you need to move the capital to embrace colonialism. But I have to much development on my capital and I cant move it. What do I do?

THIS strategy is absolute shit. First of all, if you want to make WC as Ryukyu, you dont go for colonization. You should try to vassalize Siak and conquer Paga for its gold mine and 2 grain provinces, and develop the gold province. It can be done even on very-hard, just declare war on them at 1444, hire 3 mercs and watch how they try to invade your island.
EVEN if you go for colonization, you go for Australia, cos it has A LOT of gold provinces, you are almost guaranteed to have 2 or 3. To do this you should colonize an island near Sulu, vassalize Sulu, and give that island to them before moving your cap to Australia. Note that Sulu doesnt appear at the start of the campaign.
After all, colonization is bad approach, you are spending time doing nothing, wasting points for useless ideas. What you should do is conquering neighbours as fast as you can, in every possible direction. You should not let them develop their provinces and build forts and half-million-men armies. You eradicate them instead ASAP, especially stupid Ming. And go republic for points. And go catholic/hindu for reduced interest on loans - youll need it if you do everything right. And get at least 1 military idea group - the best one is offensive IMO. Thats all you should know to make TTM, no need to thank me, fuckers/
