The AMG GT lineup will now feature a new top-tier model, boasting a powerful V-8 hybrid engine that produces an astonishing 1047 lb-ft of torque. According to Mercedes, this beast of a car can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 199 mph. the latest addition to the Mercedes family, boasting an impressive 805 horsepower from its powerful hybrid V-8 engine.
POWERTRAIN PERFORMANCE
The E Performance system combines a powerful 603-horsepower twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a rear-mounted electric motor that produces an additional 201 horsepower. The electric motor, which is permanently excited and synchronous, sends its power to the wheels through a two-speed transmission and limited-slip differential, providing optimal performance and control.
The electric motor can additionally transmit its power to the front wheels when needed, providing extra grip and traction. Together with 805 horsepower, the hybrid system produces a combined total of 1047 lb-ft of torque.
The e-motor is powered by a compact 6.1-kWh battery designed specifically by AMG, which is located above the rear axle. The battery features an advanced cooling system that circulates a special fluid around each of the 560 cells to regulate temperature and enhance performance.
Mercedes' battery technology is influenced by the hybrid systems used in their Formula 1 race cars, with an emphasis on rapid power discharge and recharge rather than maximum range. The battery is replenished using a 3.7-kW on-board AC charger.
Mercedes enhanced the aerodynamics of the AMG GT63 S E Performance by incorporating a new carbon component on the underbody ahead of the engine. At speeds of 50 mph, this element descends by approximately 1.6 inches, generating a Venturi effect that anchors the car downward and minimizes lift on the front end.
DESIGN
The exterior alterations are subtle, consisting of a rear charging port, a red "GT 63 S" badge, dual trapezoidal exhaust tips, and "E Performance" emblems on the front fenders. The standard wheels are 10-spoke, 20-inch Tantalum Grey rims, with alternative 20- and 21-inch designs available.
The vehicle's braking system features bronze six-piston fixed front calipers and single-piston floating rear calipers that are responsible for gripping the carbon-ceramic brake discs, which measure 16.5 inches in diameter at the front and 15.0 inches at the rear.
The interior remains largely unaltered, with AMG sports seats featuring power adjustment and massage functionality as standard. Upgraded performance bucket seats are available as an option, and there are various leather and microfiber upholstery options to choose from.
In the United States, Mercedes is introducing the Manufaktur Signature program, which offers a range of bespoke features, including exclusive paint finishes, luxurious nappa leather with intricate diamond quilting throughout the interior, and a steering wheel crafted with careful hand stitching.
