The recently unveiled Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance two-door coupe is stirring interest, marking a significant arrival in the automotive scene. This model incorporates hybrid technology, branded as E Performance by Mercedes-AMG, featuring a potent combination of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine and an electric motor. Together, they produce an impressive 805 horsepower, with the engine alone contributing 603 horsepower. The torque figure is even more remarkable, peaking at 1,047 pound-feet, allowing this vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, making it the quickest AMG model to date.

This car, despite its hybrid label, places minimal emphasis on fuel efficiency, sporting a relatively small 6.1 kWh battery. Mercedes has not yet disclosed its electric-only driving range, focusing instead on the battery’s role in enhancing performance by maintaining optimal temperature for maximum power output. It can be charged via a plug or through various recuperation settings, including a mode that mimics the regenerative braking of electric vehicles.

The vehicle’s power is managed by a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and distributed through the Mercedes-AMG 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. Normally, the electric motor powers only the rear axle, but it can also send power to the front to manage traction. Standard features include rear-axle steering, AMG Active Ride Control suspension for improved stability, and carbon ceramic brakes with robust six-piston calipers at the front.

Visually, the E Performance variant resembles its AMG GT63 counterpart but can be distinguished by special badging and a discreetly placed charging port. Inside, the 2+2 seating arrangement offers a familiar high-quality Mercedes-AMG environment.

Details regarding the price of the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance coupe will be released as its market launch approaches at the end of 2024.

This thing must weight a million pounds... the regular amg gt weights 4, 343 pounds without the electric motor and batteries, this thing will rival a big azz Model S Plaid and S-Class which is crazy!

2.7s 👌🏻 I had expected some better values, but that's okay.

Regular amg gt hit 2.9 seconds 0-60. How is this only .2 seconds faster? Something is not adding up.
I can only imagine how much more it costs. Rather tune the amg gt 63 model, get better performance for less.

Didn't they learn their lesson from the GT E-Performance 4-Door? The biggest complaint is the ugly charge door on its butt! When will they learn? 🙄

It makes zero sense. A V8 and electric motor. It’s like eating a tub of lard and washing it down with a Diet Coke because you are watching your weight. Ditch the electric motor.
