There is no doubt in my mind that, had he wanted to, ichiro could have become one of the best pitchers of all time, just as he became one of the best hitters of all time.

My mind is BLOWN. Never knew Ichiro pitched an inning. To do this for the first time, at 41, and to actually record three outs is insane. As mentioned, if given the chance there's no doubt he would have killed it on the mound.

He has solid mechanics, and in this outing he was alright at getting pitch-to-contact outs for an outfielder. If coaches had taken him seriously as a pitcher early in his career and had taught him something that could break bats, he'd have been a force to be reckoned with, for sure. Anyway, hats off to what the man's done at the plate and in right field, he made one of the most unique and unforgettable careers the sport has seen. True baseball legend.
