Ichiro knew that spot well—he had hit his own inside the ballpark home run to triple’s alley there in SF in the 2007 all star game! He knew the potential for the opponent if he misplayed the ball off an awkward ricochet off that high wall. Faking out the runners and holding them up was absolutely ingenious!

When they had the baseball classic, it was Japan vs Cuba, after the game, every single player on the Cuba team roster ran up to ichiro and asked for a photo op and an autograph. It was awesome to see the other team players in awe and worshiping ichiro for the great player he is. They swarmed him like a hero. He took time to deliver everyone a chance to engage. He’s that special.
