Eyesight rules for the UK Driving Test - What happens if you fail the eyesight check

Make sure you can read a number plate from a distance of 20meters otherwise you will fail your driving test and the test will not continue. The DVLA will be informed and your licence will be revoked!

You'll have to re-apply for a driving licence and you'll also be required to have an eyesight check with the DVSA at a driving test centre.

You must inform the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) if you have any problems with your eyesight that affects both of your eyes, or the remaining eye if you only have one eye.
You will NOT be allowed to take a UK Driving Test if you cannot pass the eyesight check at the start of the driving test.

You must be able to read a number plate from 20 meters. You are allowed to wear glasses or contact lenses to do so, but must the wear these whilst you are driving at all times.

Really bad day when you worry more about the eye test than the test itself. Like I am doing rn lol.

The eyesight test was the scariest part on my test

That’s what I am afraid of. Last time my instructor tested my eye sight I couldn’t read it despite having new glasses. If that happens to me the day of my test I would be devastated. My test is in May.

If I wanted to check my eyesight how would I figure out how long 20m is?

This eye sight test is crap nobody does in most European countries except a few your eyes change in 10 years time how do they expect you to read the thing in russia you just need to stop the car harshly without leaving skidmarks on the road and you pass your driving test but reading a number plate from 20 meters 😂 pointless
