"And when that's done, turn it over, and press those brand new gaskets into the dirt on the asphalt driveway. Make sure to grind them in a little, so they'll pick up some dirt, and get damaged."

@moofushu depends on the car. Just a general one would be screwdrivers, a set of sockets from 8 mm to 19 mm, a set of wrenches the same, a test light, a pair of cutters, a hammer, a pair of work gloves, any special size sockets the car requires like hex sockets, a pair of locking pliars, and ratchets to drive the sockets. I let my 99 dodge avenger sit for two weeks whilst waiting on the cash for a new windshield. Fired her up for the first time in a couple weeks and noticed the abundance of oil leaking from the top end. Screw going to a shop me and my neighbor are gonna do the gasket !! Thanks scotty !!!

@Matthew55904 No, that's the intake manifold, and a leak there will cause the engine to run WAAY too lean, causing all sorts of problems. Scotty

@blam7 yes, it is water cooled with hoses going in and passageways inside. Scotty

@nightmathzombieethan NO, read my other post below. There are MANY different grades of plastic, and the tough stuff they use on intake manifold assemblies isn't damaged by brake spray at all. After all, the damn thing sits on top of a hot aluminum engine all day long, if it were that weak, it would melt and crack just running the engine. Scotty

@tipetu It doesn't melt intake manifold grade plastic, only the really cheap stuff like they use on inside door handle covers. Scotty

Yes, it is expensive, but try a bottle of bars alumiseal in the radiator, it can often seal such intake leaks quite well. @TranceScene tis true, but a new one costs a small fortune on most vehicles. Often factory remanned units work fine and cost a ton less. Scotty

After watching your videos and reading on the internet, I feel like a fool for paying the Ford dealer $1000+ to replace my valve cover, lower intake and upper intake manifold gaskets. Granted my 2000 DOHC Taurus ran much better and didn't have check engine codes & reak of gas inside, but still...it's a methodical process. Keep the video's coming Scotty!

@beefystik yes, torque wrenches come in various sizes, VERY small to VERY large inch diameter ones. Scotty

I was talking about it in Houston, and that's what it mainly is except for long distance suburban commuters who ride in big buses to downtown. they tore up all the tracks after WWII here to make money selling cars and building roads. The American way.
