I left the big city of Toronto to move onto 40-acres of Canadian wilderness with a magical river. I am building an off-grid homestead with multiple log cabins and structures from the timber on the land.

To all my subscribers, STRENGTH AND HONOUR! 🫡🤝⚡️🐺🌲

FOLKS, WHAT WORKS ON WASPS/HORNETS?! THE WATER/SOAP SPRAY I HAD DID A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING THE WASPS FROM FLYING, IT WET THEIR WINGS…..AS THEY WERE COMING OUT OF NEST THEY COULD ONLY CRAWL FOR THE EXITS….BUT MANY OF THEM GOT BACK OUTSIDE, DRIED OFF, THEN JUST STARTED FLYING BACK IN! I HAVE A FEELING SOAP WATER IS NOT THE BEST SOLUTION…😢

After spending the last 3 days watching the last 30 episodes being sad that I finished last night, this was a hell of a treat to open YouTube to.

Whoever told him that soapy water kills hornets is merciless. Great meme though. 🤣

This channel is not about homesteading. It’s about how only nature can make our lives more alive. Thanks, James. And we’re here for it!

That hot battle with wasps at the Fort Alofs will be included in all military textbooks as an example of original strategy and unbridled courage!

Its always best to take care of wasp nests after dark when all are back from foraging. Higher chance to get all at once
Plus you can get a spray called wasp freeze, kills instantly. I'm a pest controller and do this for a living

Build project suggestion: Zip Line from main camp to the river… imagine the epicness. Fun plus functional, could use to transport yourself plus materials.

This is why they have hornet spray that shoots 30 feet, there is also disposable wasp traps that I now use and are perfect. I don't use chemicals anymore but hornets and wasps I make an exception-LOL

For the wasps. Put a small quantity of petrol in a shallow bowl. Hold under the wasps nest. The petrol vapour rises into nest and kills wasps instantly. I used this technique recently, it killed all wasps in seconds. Love the channel dude

Who wakes up before 6am on Saturdays, just to watch the latest Wild Homestead video? 🙋🏽‍♀️
Congrats on the birth of your puppy! The wasp/hornet battle was both terrifying and wildly entertaining!
Now, I try to avoid offering unsolicited advice, but you made me care about you, so now I'm protective😊 That said, as a fellow diverticulitis sufferer, I must urge you to rinse those wild berries before you eat them. The potential worms inside are likely harmless, but the potential bacteria on top (from bird droppings and the such) can cause repeated diverticula flares - AKA diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is the of diverticulosis, which is the presence of diverticula pouches in your intestines and it is not curable. Diverticulosis is an ongoing condition that you must manage to avoid continued diverticulitis flares, which can weaken your intestinal walls and lead to more severe GI complications.
You eat a very natural diet, so you're ahead of the game, just be careful consuming dangerous bacteria and try not to consume seeds and husks.
Your gut, when compromised, can distribute its own infections to any part of your body, so it may have caused your ear infections as well... just food for thought.
OK... I'm shutting down mommy mode now!
Thanks for another great episode!🥰

My tough old taciturn father, bless his soul, a could tackle anything kinda man, Dutch post war immigrant, would have LOVED THIS CHANNEL.

He was tough, quiet, no nonsense BUT when something struck him funny he was all in.

He would have just loved your antics James, that was totally his kind of humour and he would have been taking in this entire cabin building process; he too was meticulous and cut no corners.

As his oldest, he drove me crazy growing up but man, I wish he was around now!

He was one of very few Dutch that landed in Northern Ontario and as kids we basically lived in the

Have missed it all my
