Today's episode is a little shorter but the it's an important topic. My little Maus can be both German and American.....but will she receive it? It's a simple answer but rather longwinded so let's talk about it!

mmhhh.... am I the first here, commenting? never happened to me before 😍, anyway, Mari, I think the way you act is the right way, give your daughter the opinion and let her decide. I think its valuable to have 2 citizenships and when you can get her this why not. I like your movies, so keep on going 👍 (oh, old bavarian here)

I would say give her the option when she is old enough to understand all that implies and let her choose. Maybe things will change until then, but at least it will be her choice.

Yes, get your maus an American citizenship. You never know when this documents will be handy!

Prepare the documents, put them in an envelope and store that for the next 16 years or so. Visit your parents and friends with her (the American ones) and then you can start discussing matters with her in 16 years

Hola Mari... a little something to think about... have you given thought to how Maus would be cared for in the unlikely event of an unfortunate catastrophe occurring to you and your beloved, on the autobahn, for instance. If you want her to be raised by your sister or parents, the lack of citizenship may interfere with your wishes. Tough issues that nobody wants to consider, but best that you make your wishes known rather than leaving it up to the winds of fate, (or chance). That's what wills are for.
Hugs!

My husband and I think that she should not try for American citizenship until later.
