My boss is going to fire the employee with the worst posture. I have a hunch, it might be me.

I've been rear ended twice by people on cellphones.

I've seen LED signs that can be mounted inside car windows. The driver can change the images that the sign displays, and one of the images that it can display is a middle finger. So things like that do exist, but I do agree that such things are probably a bad idea to have in your car when you've got to deal with armed people with road rage.

I once got passed by a guy on the right while I was doing 70 (in a 55) and he had a piece of paper taped up in his window about the law of "not driving on the left."

Really made me want to put one up on my window that said "buddy, you're doing 72 in a 55, that's a 4 point ticket."

They're not always on the phone. I once got stuck behind someone going really slowly and when the road finally opened up to two lanes and I was able to pass I saw she was doing her makeup.

No sign necessary. Just get in front of the offensive driver and slam on the brakes.

I have had that idea for a very long time, but these days, doing ANYTHING to tell someone else what they are doing wrong is a major trigger for someone to think nothing of it to open fire. The best thing that all of us can do is to keep a lot of space between your car and other cars around you.

My friend used to have a microphone/transmitter (many many years ago) that transmitted on the frequency of the major british radio station (radio 1). This was before commercial radio, so there were very few channels. When on the motorway, you could talk into it and if any nearby car was listening to that station, then they would hear you.
He used it to say 'Hey you in the Blue Ford Reg - you're going too slow - get out the frickin way etc etc !!

Of course, it became completely illegal and as the no of stations increased, it stopped having any effect - still it was funny for a while

when i was in a slump after not reading for years, george orwell’s animal farm got me back into the flow. super easy to read, nice political undertones while still entertaining. it just reminded my brain of the feeling of “falling” into a book, where it’s not a task, or something you have to make time for, just something you impulsively gravitate back to douring the day. charles bukowski has a good way of doing this as well.

I like that the caller asked how to get back into books. I love to hear that! A part of me thinks I should have been a Librarian. I think he was asking how to I stick with it without losing interest. I would have told him to read a subject that he find pleasurable first so he can rebuild his speed in reading. I have always noticed that I read a lot faster when I'm reading for enjoyment vs something I want to learn. It sounded like he wanted it to learn. I don't think he had a passion for politics. He just wanted to better educate himself. I also probably would have suggested he start listening to the podcast Ultra since he isn't use to reading that kind of stuff yet. Politics feels like something we all need to know and isn't exactly for fun and the reading can be boring as hell. I can see that guy picking up one book, reading one chapter, and say screw this. I wish could have talked to a caller like that. Yes, I have a love of reading but I remember what it was like to be kinda slow with it and annoyed when I had to read something for school. I just had an amazing teacher who directed me towards something short that she knew I'd like. Then, another one that was short that I really enjoyed. Until she realized I really wanted a good book I could sink my teeth into. She was a reading specialist after all and she did an amazing job with me. She knows how much she has changed my world and I adore her. I wish everyone had a teacher like that.

there are hand signals that can be used to communicate to other drivers.

David forgets the biggest point.
He would have to type out the message essentially texting while driving in too.
Unless you had like some template of messages that you could just select when you saw certain drivers.
What drives me bonkers is seeing someone driving with a little dog in their lap and even worse than that a little dog that's very interested in jumping around and looking at things. That just can't be safe.

While it sounds 'fun', I have to ask, wouldn't typing something to say on an LED sign in your window be the same as texting? It's distracted driving... Now, if you can use a voice option, that'd be different.

So you're going to type a message while driving to tell someone else not to text. Perfect.
And that dude didn't need to mention his education was via Reddit. His "They're going to shoot you" made that clear.

you'd be guilty just as much as the other driver...smh
