GREAT video. Love it. And LOVE both Phone Link AND DeX - I also love that we can use Bixby, Samsung's dedicated virtual assistant, to turn each service on and off - we can't use them both simultaneously, it seems. If we were, the only reason I'd have the Link to Windows service on at all would be to take advantage of the Notifications - I'd most probably use DeX for EVERYTHING else as it just outdoes Phone Link in everything.

Of course, to encourage me to shut down Link to Windows entirely, Samsung COULD update the DeX Windows app to be able to take the notifications and show them, while it's resident in the notification area... There is a setting, on by default, that flashes the DeX icon whenever there's a new phone notification - but a popup window, or integration with Windows notifications, would also be great.

One question I do have for your community - Is there a way to use Bixby Routines to use our voice to toggle the state of each service? Like, "Hi Bixby - I'd like the full desktop experience" or "Hi Bixby - just give me the basics on Windows" to toggle off, on/on, off Link to Windows/DeX respectively. If not, that'd be pretty cool and I would not have to use separate voice commands. If it can't be implemented for whatever reason, that's also fine - two commands vs one isn't that bad.

Take care!

Yeah, Dex is like a computer within your computer... PLUS you can freely use your Android phone for other things while using Dex (except the same app. Like, you can't have Clash Royale open in Dex and on your Android phone.)

But sometimes I prefer the "lighter" feel of Phone Link. It has came a long way in functioning properly. I like the ability to easily text and make and receive calls with my headphones on.

Funnily enough, Samsung Flow used to be the main thing but it died out and is just now trying to come back. It's offering screen mirroring now, but other than that... It's like a 20% Phone Link.

Dex is so versatile. Me, I always use it on my PC. You don't even need a PC to use it, though.. just a monitor or television lol.

It's especially nice to use on a secondary monitor.. then you have your phone, your computer... and your "second" phone on another monitor laid out like a Chrome OS/Chromebook style set up.

So between the two, you can only share files between PC and phone using DeX rather than Phone Link - or did I misunderstand this? E.g., I want to use some pictures on my phone for a profile on a phone app, can do with DeX but not Phone Link?

Also, just curious, with DeX your phone's doing all the work - so battery life would be shorter, while with Phone Link most of the work happens on the PC?

Looks like for Samsung users Dex is better option. Everyone else has no choice but to use PhoneIink.
