I have a buddy who is a Supervisor at Costco. He said he once had someone return a bag of ice, stating "it melted too fast." These people should have their membership permanently revoked.

People who abuse the return policy should have their memberships canceled. Once the cancellation stories go viral, problem will fix itself.

My neighbor buys solar garden lights and then returns them after the summer is over before the snow comes. He thinks it’s funny. I tell him “Dude, that’s terrible you should be ashamed of yourself”. He just smirks and goes back into his house. The Gaul…

Why punish those of us who don't abuse the policy?

Costc is crazy to have a policy like that, and I am a Costco member. I bought a water cooler about 4-5 years ago, it died. I took it to the dump. The warrenty was over. As a member I would rather they readdress the return policy than to increase prices on everyone. Why should the rest of us suffer or pay for outrageous people??

Costco doesn 't need a customer that returns a 3-year old couch a kid damaged.

Who shops at Costco just to return what they bought? People that abuse a return policy should be banned from shopping at Costco.

I've met people that do this. Disgusting!
Dead trees that were never planted, big screen TV's after the Super Bowl, very used furniture etc. Again, disgusting.

I don't abuse the return policy at Costco but if Costco does raise prices and change their return policy, I will cancel the membership because then I can't justify the benefit of the membership. I only bring stuff back if there's a problem but I've seen mattresses, couches, food, plants, being returned after used with yellow stains on it. It's disgusting.

WHY not just charge a RE-STOCKING FEE?
Rather than raise everyone's prices? 💰

Costco has taught their customers to be ill behaved. Nordstrom and Dillard’s had to change their return policies due to customers who returned worn, old items. Costco should do the same.

A guy I use to work for use to call it, “The Costco Rental Center”. He would buy 6 small TVs to do a music video or a production and take them right back the next day. He did it for years and I’m still scratching my head about why they let him repeatedly do that several times a year. 🤦‍♂️

I have a good friend that was a sales representative for a wholesaler that sells to Costco. He told me that Costco pays more for products than other retailers. The reason they have better prices is because they work on slimmer margins and volume. The reason Costco pays more is because if a wholesaler wants their products sold in Costco. They have to agree to take back all returns no questions asked. Everyone want to be in Costco

it’s always a few that ruin it for the rest of us. They abuse a very solid return policy where eventually the company has to change it.

I gotten home after buying 5 dozen eggs and found that the check out person broke 5 to 7 eggs with their fingers during check out. I didn't take the eggs back, but I now check my eggs after check out to make sure they are still unbroken. Taking back old stuff needs to stop because I can't afford more inflation.

I saw the other day someone bringing back camping equipment, looked fine, dirty, used it for a weekend, and returned it. This needs to stop, abuse.

Very good topic living in Hawaii and I frequently go to Costco and see and really disagree on is when tourist come in purchases a surfboard, beach chairs, snorkel mask and at the end of their vacation they take everything back. They don’t take it with them from the state they came from, but I also see locals buying things like folding tables folding chairs, pop-up tents for parties and Get togethers and then they take
all back. Very, very dishonest and upsetting.

I worked at Target in 1993 and they had a no questions asked refund policy as long as you had your receipt. I watched in horror many times, but they did eventually stop this practice. I think Costco will stop it, too.

Sadly there is a lot of abuse of that policy. One example being a person buying a large screen TV and returning it after the Superbowl party.
