Adjusting The Shift Modulator

How to adjust the shift modulator valve to raise or lower the shift points in your transmission.
Is your transmission shifting too early or too quick? Then you can make it shift later by raising the shift points. This is done by adjusting the Shift Vacuum Modulator. Simply turn the screw inside the Modulator Clockwise to raise the shift points.
Is your transmission shifting too late or hanging in one gear too long? Then you can lower the shift points. This is done by adjusting the Shift Vacuum Modulator the oposite direction. Turn the screw inside Counterclockwise.

This is very simple, quick and easy. It allows you to taylor your transmission shift points to where you want them.

Thanks for the video. I just adjusted my th400 transmission vacuum modulator shift points. Now on my mild throttle 1st gear shifts at 15mph, 2nd gear shift at 30 mph, 3rd gear shifts at 42, and OD shifts in at 43mph👍

Videos like these are important. Because if you go and watch B&m’s own video, on their own modulator, they show you how to put it on. Even tell you that you can adjust it. But failed to say or show which way you turn it to stiffen up the shifts or soften. Common sense would say clockwise = tighten shifting. Counter clockwise= soften shifting. But sometimes things are the opposite.

I have a th350 trans in my bugeye sprite with a sbc 383ci.
I'll adjust my vacuum modulator and fix the low rpm shift points. Thanks

I found out my powerglide does not HAVE a adjuster INSIDE the module what do I do ?? Bought new DOESN'T have one ?? Need longer first gear ?? Help plz

My th350 trans will shift into Reverse or Drive but in drive does not upshift to 2nd or 3rd. Can’t even manually shift into those gears. I replaced the governor and vacuum modulator and same thing.
What’s wrong here?

what about when you put it in gear, and it hesitates for a bit and then it starts to move? but you can feel like it binds a little?

Does this also change the WOT shift points? My th350 is shifting around 3000 rpms but I want to get 4000 out of it. The kick down cable seems like it's set correctly and the modulator has not been touched. Brand new b&m th350

At WOT will these adjustments affect my shift point. My TH350 at WOT won’t shift until 6300 rpm. But crushing it shifts fine.

Does that hose from the modulator connect to vaccum manifold port from carburetor?

I have a 77 ford f100 and it’s not even shifting into any gear. I just got the transmission rebuilt 3 years ago so I don’t think it’s that. Could it be a bad modulator? Also the hose that connects to the hardline is t as thick as others on similar models. Could it be that?

If you don't want resonant harmonics, you must connect the induction flange to the foo valve or else there will be cross-mojination with the flux-capasitor DUH !

Thanks for the info and demo on the adjustment process. I currently run a Ford C-6 behind a Ford 460 in my Mustang. It shifts really hard. What would I do to soften it up a bit? Would I need to change it to a different color stripe? I use for street cruising mostly and don't race it. Thank you very much for any input sir. Love your beautiful truck! It is a work of art imo. I have th 350 turbo it will shift into reverse and drive when I drive down the road i will reach 30pmh and still won’t shift into second gear.governer is okay and transmission is at the full mark. What’s the problem?
