This version finally did right by both Amy and Jo in regards to Laurie. Even when it seems she is regretting not saying yes to his proposal, she not once confesses romantic feelings for him, and in her letter she says that she does not want to live without him and even that is more about the friendship she had with him. That's taken care of when he is her brother in law but the truth is, he is her brother and only confused his feelings for her because he'd yet to feel love of a different kind so he didn't know it existed much less how to tell the difference.

I hated him when he ended up with Amy but now I realise it’s unfair of me. Either way, I always wanted Jo and Laurie. I honestly left the cinema talking to my Mother and friends saying and I think it’s because they were so untraditional and Jo was just the most real to me and Amy was amazing and sweet but she was the “pretty one” so I just…I wanted Jo and Laurie 💔✨
