It fascinating how advanced our ancestors were in their ideas & theories / Hypothesis. Ur calculations maybe correct / maybe some of those arent correct but u cant just make up everything out of nothing. Its fascinating how they even thought about these things. Tried to calculate it / build a scientific approach around it. They didn’t just made a 200 page Rulebook & said its ultimate truth & everything else is wrong. They took a Scientific & philosophical approach to things. Trying to make sense of things around us.

Anything can be called accident. Our whole existence is an Accident. U should read Book.called " DNA". U would realise how Our genetic codes are accidents from chemical composition to single Cellular beings to Humans.


& thats the most beautiful thing about our culture. Even today we give many scientific theories & even mathematics that can be proved otherwise in future. Its a continuous Process & Our ancestors are also part of this Process.

People who call it just.Accident are either those knowledgeable persons who sees everything as accident & knows meaning of accident / are just arrogant to think u can just make things up.about Cosmos specially in that time without even having a Telescope. U are jist discrediting whole humanity

I think it is extraordinary that our ancestors could even conceive of these gigantic time scales. This "accident" is surely worth looking into.

Sagan was very soft on religion and there is nothing wrong. He had his own ways of pushing science without going too hard on religion. But the way religion is damaging Society, we need people like Hitchens who are blunt and unapologetic.

So by accident ancient Hindus calculated the correct numbers, if someone tops a exam he is not a topper, he did not do any study for this, he did not follow any process, its just an accident he topped his exam, everyone who sat for the exam are same, does not matter who excelled who did not, your logic is amazing, very scientific, sometimes use your PFC not your unparalleled hatred for Hindu culture, traditions. Everything is not good about Hindu culture, when its right have the courage to acknowledge it also criticise it when they are not right, do not be blinded by hatred for it.

So, By accident, we have 4 Vedas and 108 Upanishads which are the treasures of knowledge and science. We Indians only appreciate modern science and feel ashamed of our own culture and heritage.

He said it because he can't digest the fact that ancient people can write such an advance theory. And it is also difficult to digest for us but the truth is there are so many theories which are proved to be exactly same as written in Hindu texts

And Actually we don't care whether he said by accident or not
Actually the measurements of time in several places of universe in Hindu texts is way more deep than his researches
And it's not him who will decide whether it match by accident or whether its written on a solid ground he can only gudge it

This accident inspired Carl Sagan to read Vedas, Upanishads. And he accepted that Hinduism as his ideology.

Even though i am leftist I don’t think it was “accidental” or “coincidental”. As someone who practises ayurved on the daily basis being a vaidya and also having brothers studying in iit who take special courses of Indian astronomy offered by the institution, i don’t think so those number were “coincidental”.
If we really look in the history there are so many formulas and mathematical formulas, equations and concepts that just got westernise and never got the recogonization they should have. Eg : bhaskar formula.

Obviously, he was an Atheist so am I but Hinduism is better and important for humans.

Of course, science works on hypothesis and verification. Indians didn't have facilities to verify their hypothesis. Anyway they did have vision to think beyond the observable unlike claiming Earth is 6000 years old. Anyway, Sagan's words neither promote or debunk Hindu thought.

Isnt it a nice thing that even its an accident or coincidence our hindu or sanatan dharma's temples and scripture are matching with todays technology
That means our culture even after decades its matching with todays world technology and knowledge
