Hangkai 12 Unboxing, Setup, and First Start

Today we are unboxing and testing out our brand new 12 HP Hangkai Chinese Outboard. We will show you what all comes in the box, how to fill the lower unit (foot) oil, and starting the motor up for the very first time. The Hangkai 18 started on the first pull. Let's see if this one does too!

Thanks for the video as it helped me get started. I just got one of these bad boys. I had a gear oil pump for my jeep but that has no screw in adaptor. The hose was to big but found that the plastic return clip that fills up the toilet bowl inside the toilet tank can screw right in the oil tube fits right over that! Started on the third or forth pull!

Just an FYI if you rev it up on the hose like that without backpressure, not only are you increasing the chances that it will runaway on you, but you can easily bend or snap reed valves. only idle or just off idle on the hose!

So you remember when the 18hp puked on you because of the pressure?
When you reinstalled that top plug you allowed it to build a negative pressure to assist in hold the gear lube in.

Does the 6.0 HP also have a M8x1.25 drain plug?

Do you have to use the straight 90 or can you use the SAE80-90?

You don’t have to pull the safety lid out to kill the engine. You could just push down the red button on top of where the safety lanyard goes.

It's about damn time you figured out how to change the fluid in a lower unit...not a foot....lmao 😂 I thought it was great when the 18 horsepower spit fluid everywhere... I just wonder how many people followed your instructions😮

Then what model Yamaha is the hangkai 18hp a copy of?
