The PS5 GPU issues are getting worse & failure is more common than you think.. Here's the signs your PlayStation 5 GPU has gone bad! If you notice screen flickering, static screen problems, black screen or dots.. Then I have very bad news! Your PS5 GPU is going bad & the only fix is to send it in to Sony for repairs or a new PlayStation 5.

So glad mine did that right out of the box so they had to fix it inside warranty immediately. Pretty fast turnaround also. Had it back in about a week, if I recall correctly.

I have one of the newer models from 2022 June and have noticed artifacting on certain games (mostly all of them like Mafia 2 biggest example) are PS4 ported or definitive /revamped games. I have never had this specific issue on actual AAA PS4 or PS5 titles. So I think also this could be due to the actual games in question and the backwards compatibility etc, basically an array of issues not specific to the PS5 itself but rather the compatibility of some games and the GPU. You see it a lot with newer high end PCS where for example my PC is a high end gaming PC that runs Cities Skylines 2, yet stick in Theme Hospital and it doesn't work to the point the PC loses the concept of reality itself lol. I have noticed my PS5 will run GPU/CPU extensive titles perfectly fine as far as I can tell yet suffers on some (not all) of the backwards compatible or remasters. I panicked when Mafia 2 Definitive Edition had obvious graphical issues alongside hard game crashing (the artifacts were noticeable) above the steam coming from the sewers, white light flashing above certain bright snow/dark backgrounds etc. yet Ghost recon Breakpoint and any other game no issues, not even a single hard crash. I don't think it is everyone's GPU and in most instances the games just runs like trash on the PS5 and the devs will never fix it. Not a biggy when the games a free subscription title, but it's a big deal if someone has paid for the game and it's priced around the £50 mark. Obviously now I will be paranoid to see if any of my other games start doing this, if they do new PS5 it is as I have 3 year warranty.

This could also happen if your console is very dusty or makes a bad connection somewhere. Had this same effect on my PC once.

Mine was actually like this from day 1… Sony fixed it, sent it back, and now it runs well. Despite the fact they returned it to me with scuff marks 😒

That happened to me but on a PS3 that was recently released in the Slim version in 2009.
I spent almost 3 months without the console to be able to validate the guarantee.

My PS5 is less than a month old and it does two things badly...
Charging the controller (it just doesn't, unless I unplug the cable from the console and plug it in again) and whenever I play the remakes of Resident Evil games and my character gets grabbed, during this animation it fills the screen with cubes of static, like a mesh screen...

I really think you dropped the ball on this video. I’m in the game console repair business and have seen exactly 1 suspected GPU failure. The first few minutes of the video and the advice about using remote play to diagnose GPU issues are good. When you start getting into trying different cables/ ports on the tv though you are completely ignoring the 800LB gorilla in the room and that is the very common issue of the port on the console having faulty solder joints even if the port is fine which is also prone to breaking. Hopefully you’ll address that in a follow up video

My launch edition ps5 started having problems a few weeks ago where textures got replaced by bright lights in game, flashing cubes on game hom screen. I tried everything before contacting Sony who then informed me my gpu on console was on its way out. Wouldn't even load graphic intensive games because of that. Ended up buying a new console.

Never buy first edition. Always wait until they release a remodel that fixes things they didn’t think about during initial design.

I have my ps5 since july 2021 and still going strong no issues. I only noticed my disc drive is somewhat slower needs cleaning perhaps but i dont use discs so im preety satisfied. Those were still same as launch models btw

I have a launch console, and I've never had static lines or any graphical issues. However, the PS5 will just randomly crash on start-up. Sometimes a few seconds after going to home.
I've used two different TV's, and both times it would do the same thing, albeit not as much on my much newer TV.
I've reset the PS5 twice fully, but never did a Default Settings reset so I may try that.
Oddly enough, my PS5 has a strange issue, or it did, where PS4 games would just crash the system. I haven't played any PS4 games on it recently, but it did it a lot when I first tried.
