2014 Mazda6 Test Drive & Car Video Review

The mid-sized sedan segment is not very exciting even though it is quite competitive. Most vehicles in this category all have the same styling and can get lost in a sea of the mundane. But the 2014 Mazda6 could be the exception. Mazda is a passionate car company looking to make fun automobiles.

The exterior of the Mazda6 has been completely redesigned. Gone is the smiley grille replaced by a much more vertical and pronounced piece. This great new look can be seen on other Mazda vehicles, most notably the CX-5. While most manufacturers are moving to the cab forward design, Mazda has instead gone for a cab rearward look by stretching the sheet metal. The lines on the side seem to keep flowing. This car is not just about form; the new model also uses a lot more high strength steel. Mazda has made a conscious effort to convert the Mazda6 from a regular mid-sized car into a premium car. From the back the simple design looks very upscale, almost like a Lexus ES.

On the inside Mazda has done a lot to compliment the outside. The gauges and instrument panel have all been updated. The 2014 Mazda6 is available in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. The higher the trim level the more standard features you get.

You probably have heard about SKYACTIV technology on many of the new Mazda vehicles. This powerplant has now made its way onto the 2014 Mazda6 making the car more fuel efficient. The engine is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft. of torque. Fuel economy is excellent at 26 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway.

The 2014 Mazda6 can satisfy a whole range of automotive shoppers; from those who just need a commuter car to the enthusiast looking for a fun daily driver.

its a strong car, stable engine and handles a lot of pressure. no electric or technical problems. where i live we have shitty roads but I've had it for almost 5 years now and it is still running perfectly no doubt about that.

I love the autobytel car reviews. I think this car looks great. The mid sized sedan segment is flooded right now with a lot of redesigns. Mazda did what they had to do to compete. Fuel efficient, more gears in the auto, paddle shifters etc. The size of the infotainment screen is a bit of a joke though in comparison to others with 7"+ screens standard. Otherwise it looks like a pretty solid contender.

Just added something to my 6 today that made it look great and will help save the interior, had the windows tinted. The front side windows were done at 70% tint, California legal, and the rear side windows and back window were done ay 20%, also legal. Gives the car a great look and should help my interior last. Highly recommend getting it done.

I bought the Mazda 6 GT this afternoon. VERY comfortable seats. Of all the cars I tried, second only to the Lexus.

I am torn deciding which new midsize I like the most. The new Accord is great, so is the Altima, and so is the Mazda 6. Honestly I think id have to write each in a piece of paper, put them in a bag, and take one to chose which one to buy. All 3 are excellent vehicles.

You can get the Accord with a 278 hp V6. You can get the Camry with a 248 hp V6 or a 200hp hybrid. You can get a Fusion with a 240 hp Ecoboost. You can get an Optima with 274 hp. You can get a Chrysler 200 or a Dodge Avenger with a 283 hp V6. You can get a Chevy Malibu with 259 hp. You can get a Hyundai Sonata with either 200 hp or 274 hp. So he's right, this car definitely lacks in the power department compared to others in the class.

this has one of the most powerful 4 cylinders in the class. there is no 200 hp standard. the Sonata and Optima have the 200 hp engine, and none of the other automakers followed suit.
