The Mazda6 has never really been a hit with regular consumers, but enthusiasts have always appreciated its driving dynamics. Hopefully the number of upgrades Mazda has made will make this car compelling. There are 3 different trims available: Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring. Mazda also offers a 6-speed manual transmission as well as a 6-speed automatic on the lower 2 trims.

The 2014 Mazda6 features the new KODO Design Philosophy that new Mazda vehicles are using. Key highlights of the KODO design include the scowling headlights, 5-point front grille, and flowing front fender lines. The wheels are 19-inch silver alloys. The rear of the car has also received a significant makeover.

Out back the SKYACTIV Technology Badge hints at the powerplant under the hood. The engine is a direct injected 2.5 liter 4-cylinder with a compression ratio designed to maximize fuel economy. Power checks in at 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft. of torque while fuel economy figures are 26 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. SKACTIV also refers to the engineering philosophy behind the car which is pull as much weight out as possible to make the car more responsive while maximizing fuel economy.

Driving dynamics are wonderful. Grip, ride, and handling capabilities are all extraordinary even with the large 19-inch wheels and sport tires. Mazda's are known for their sporty ride quality but the Mazda6 feels fairly compliant on the road. There is a lot of communication coming to the driver from the suspension and steering.

On the inside the 2014 Mazda6 comes with an 8-way adjustable power seat for the driver. The center display with navigation is crystal clear. Mazda has made an excellent car that should stand out compared to the tough competition. When it comes to the redesigned 2014 Mazda6 what you get is one of the most fuel efficient cars in its class, one of the safest, one of the most stylish, and one of the most fun to drive; coupled with an affordable price tag. If you are shopping for a mid-size sedan then you must at lease test drive the 2014 Mazda6.

I understand why Mazda didn't bother with a V6 option for this car. In the big picture the V6 models make up a very small percentage of the sales. Mazda has always put nimble handling and being different above all else. That turbo Diesel is going to be the only one in it's class and is going to impress people. If the sales are good enough, don't be surprised to see a Mazdaspeed 6 with a turbo 4. For my money this is the car to get in this class. That Hyundai 2.0T will be fast, but handle badly. Hyundai hasn't figured out handling yet. I could always spend $3K on a turbo kit for the 6 and have a fast car that also handles well.

Toyo Kogyo Co. LTD is was what Mazda was called when it was a military weapons manufacturer during World War II. They made rifles, in particular, that killed our soldiers during the war!! Think about that when you consider buying a value-packed Mazda6!!!

During WW2 Japanese tri-forces never killed innocent civilians in your country, but US killed innocent civilians in japan.

And Mitsubishi built airplanes during WWII. Nowadays, these companies build cars and whatever else they make. If that bothers you what a company did 70 odd years ago, STILL, find another item to review. As far as I am concerned, what a firm did in the 30's or 40's is not important, that was then.

I owned a previous generation 2009 Mazda Grand Touring V6 and it was the flat out worst car I've ever owned. Mazda refused to stand behind or correct the car's malfunction!! Approach this brand of car with great care. I kept it one year before trading it on a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L V6 and speaking of depreciation, LOST 6K. Be warned!!
