President Joe Biden announced a new era of partnership between the U.S. and ASEAN.
This came during Friday, at the second day of the U.S.-ASEAN Special Summit in Washington D.C., attendees discussed many issues such as the pandemic, climate change, and education.
Biden added the discussion reflects how important the Pacific and ASEAN members are to the U.S.
It's the first time in six years that Washington hosted ASEAN leaders in the states.
Nine countries were invited to the summit.
The U.S. commander in chief will visit South Korea from May 20th to 22nd, as part of his Asia tour, for a maiden summit with President Yoon.
