Well Europe has fallen totally into that trap . Trump was banging on about this aswell while he was president saying how ungrateful Europe was for not using American gas but instead choosing the cheaper Russian gas . America can now turn the screws and threaten Europe if it does not do what the Americans want . Luckily the UK only needed a small percentage of Russian gas but if we open up our natural gas fields then we should not need any imported gas in a short period of time . Being under the thumb of the US is no better than being under the thumb of Russia .

The U.S. has vast natural gas reserves in Texas and the Gulf of Mexico, but ultimately both the U.S. and Europe are going to need to build more nuclear power plants in addition to wind and solar supplemented with natural gas. Especially if we are going to move to non combustion engines (electric cars).
