We've raised and eaten Longhorns for close to 14 years. Do all the raising, butchering, cutting and wrapping on property.. They are easy keepers, easy on fencing and in general a very docile bovine. Not to mention the beef is lean and lovely.. Now this year throwing a twist in it as we are now in our 60s.. Have purchased our first pair of Mini Longhorns.. (easier to handle for us oldies )

Thank you for your video. So much information that other homestead sites do not have. Especially 👍🏻 for a newbie like me. I just ordered Salatin’s Polyface book because of your site. Now watching his videos as well. 🙏🏻❤️🤗

One of our neighbors raises
beef master cattle while doing research on where they came from, we found your channel. My husband and I wanted to raise Angus until we saw your video on why you don't have black cows. We are in south Texas which the summer's can get real hot. Your reasons for raising long horns and no black cattle made sense to us. We have changed the type of cattle we want to raise because of you. We will 100% Pasture Raise our cattle. We will also add tea make from oak leaves to their water to keep them healthy. All oak is anti everything including an antidote. All parts of oaks can be used except the acorn's for this tea.
I give oak tea to my family, dogs, cats, chickens and have given oak tincture for deer.
Thanks for the video's.

Longhorns are cheap if you are only looking to use Only as beef. If you buy registered stock and want to join showing and futurities then the price goes up with what is in the bloodline. Also to have an all around cow good horn growth, size, color, and disposition is gonna pay more. Very good video for people that want to get into beef production.

Man.. I’m so happy someone called out the stockyards, , just glorified pawnshops. Especially in today’s world, longhorn meat sells. I am predicting in next 20-40 years longhorns will be the predominant sell at market. It is already on the way up. Everyone is always worried about the almighty $, if you in the world where you have cattle and just let them graze a couple years and not worry about hurry up and sell.

I like correinte cow's they eat 1/4 of what a Angus cow will eat and you can breed them to a Angus and they don't have trouble having babies
And they are gentle and they forage very well. So they cost about 1/4 as much to keep. They use them in rodeo's and they call them money makers. They have been butchered at 17 years old and were tender and tasty.
It's a no brainer to me.
Some longhorn you have to have a special trailer for.

Cause I have all these videos of bbq ribs but they'd never tell you what kind of cattle that is used.

One area of longhorn not talked about is sports if one can call rodeo a sport some do but one of the rodeo event is bull dogging ans some roping events but pretty hard to bull dog/wrest a polled steer lol lol
There are ranchers that raise longhorns and others just for rodeo events more rank the animal more profitable
Not saying that this right or wrong but it exist

I thought Longhorns would be pricey. I have polled Charolais. Sale barn prices are terrible in my area.

Isn't it better to fatten the cows up as much as possible on grass for the taste? Lean grass-fed meat isn't the most pleasant experience. Of course, the longhorns may be just fine, I've never tried that kind of beef. But I know Greg Judy says you have to make sure your cows get pleasantly plump if you want to make sure their meat is tasty and juicy.

There’s not many people in east Texas that run cattle as a living we do it so we ain’t paying 100k in tax’s every year, as land owners in east tx we make our money on royalty’s . Although they aren’t no where what they used to be, you should never sell royalty. In my opinion lands almost pointless to own unless you own the royalty. Jus my 2 pennies.
