The officiating in women's college basketball is absolutely atrocious. The pony-tailed, self-promoting ref in todays game should be fired, not suspended. She has to add 10 minutes to every game she refs(??), running to the replay table so she can get on TV. How do refs get assigned? She seems to get a lot of important games, and makes a mess of all of them.

Thinking about this the next day, I wonder why the UCONN AD doesn't complain to the league about the consistently bad reffing. They have not been enforcing the rules of the game as published and haven't been protecting the players from injury.

I am generally anti-litigiousness, but I would think that the league could face some liability, if they were formally put on notice and didn't do any better training and policing of the refs. Caroline and Azzi could certainly make a case that they have suffered damages due to poor reffing.

There is no truth to the rumor Nika will be joining the MMA circuit after the season is over. The Huskies have to be in a 'war mode' every game. Some of the non calls are so bad, the "let them play" option is totally out of control by the officials. Although despised by a lot of people because of their ridiculous winning record over the years many of those same people are realizing how absolutely wonderful and committed these "left standing" players are giving all they have to produce a winning formula against teams that believe that "had/have" a chance to beat UCONN for the first time! Personally, I am behind this team more than ever before. I watch the games like I'm watching a hockey game. Every possession is crucial. Every turnover kills me. But, they keep fighting. 35-40 minutes for each starter. No problem. They just keep getting up off the floor and continue to play as hard as they possibly can. And, they constantly pick each other up with a pat on the back and stay closely knit throughout the games.

Rough play by Villanova all along and I'm being polite by saying rough. With refs like that, players will have to wear helmets by the end of the season...
