Revelation 20:1-3:

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. Just proves what I've told my wife for years...I have never agreed with my life-long favorite pastors on every single thing. Voddie, John MacArthur and Spencer Smith have been my top guys for over a decade and more...but every once in a great while, we differ. I just can't past Revelation chapter 20 ( if my recall is correct ) and several other passages in Ezekiel, Daniel and others in the New Testament in order to agree with what Voddie is teaching here. Absolutely, this man is saved and a wonderful servant of Jesus Christ that unashamedly preaches His word without backing down, but I think he has the picture wrong on this one.

Thousand years is recorded six times in the first seven verses in Revelation 20. In a book with some metaphor & symbolism, taking the thousand years not literally is willful ignorance.

This also requires one to symbolize the final 8 chapters of Ezekiel that clearly speak of the millennium period with Christ reigning on earth.

Pretty frequently it’s a matter of unbelief that God would bring back such impossible to imagine things and rather it is much simpler to “settle” on what this present age is.

Daniel 7:27 & Revelation 11:15 are crystal clear: it has not yet happened. The greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven has not been given to the people of the saints of the Most High.

The end of the age was the end of the Old Covenant age. Not the end of the world. Vodie is wrong. The preterists are right.

So how do u acct for scripture that says the saints who were beheaded will return with christ then they will rule & reign with him 1000 yrs. Guess we'll see

Then where exactly would you place the loosing of Satan in Rev 20:3 & 7? And what of the first resurrection of the just, and the resurrection AFTER the 1000 years?
The theory presented would have to assume the first resurrection has already happened. Verse 4 shows the first resurrection are all those who were faithful unto death, did not take the mark of the beast, etc, and they live and reign with Christ 1, 000 years.
We could say there is an antinomy in eschatology here, because you can build various doctrines about the millenium or the harpazo (rapture) when Jesus is clear, watch and pray, for ye know not when the time is - Mark 13, He says it 3 times.
We are only told the signs to look for and lift up your heads for your redemption draweth nigh- Luke 21
I look at 2 things showing we are in the latter days of the present age: the technological advances of the past 120-150 years, and Israel becoming a nation again in 1948, after having been dispersed and Jerusalem trodden down for 1, 878 years...
Get in Jesus, make sure your salvation, abide in Him, and examine whether ye be in the faith, and are bearing fruits meet for repentance

It is well to read Philip Mauro on "things which must soon come to pass". He has passed but gave excellent discernment on Daniel, Revelations, and other scriptures.

Let us be careful not to divide over something which is not of prime importance. What will be does not deny what we have in Christ: the forgiveness of sins, fellowship with God Himself and someday the Resurrection.

When the current age of Grace is done, then starts the 7 year tribulation. Revelation 4 shows we, the church, are in Heaven and will return with Jesus when he comes back to reign and rule for 1000 years. After that comes the white throne judgment of all the unbelievers, that is known as the second death, then there is a new Heaven and a new earth and we will dwell there forever.

I used to parrot the Premillennial Tribulation Rapture and had an armoury of verse that corroborated that theory. I literally believed the 1000 year reign as coming soon. However, I had some doubts, nagging irregularities and conceded that Postmillennialists had grounds for their claims, now here we are. This kind of stuff needs soberness to accept.
