Hyper-mobility and EDS aren’t synonymous. You can be hyper-mobile without having EDS, and there are other factors that have to be present to diagnose someone with one of the EDS subtypes such as skin hyper-elasticity and atrophic scarring.

I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome but I have the Classical type, which affects mostly my skin, joints and ligaments and causes my skin to bruise and tear easily. I am somewhat hyper mobile in my hands, I was more as a child and teenager, if you had asked me this question back then I would have said yes! But I have gotten much older and my joints have gotten somewhat stiffer.

Im under rheumatology and the doctor keeps saying its probably just hypermobility not an autoimmune desease the thing is im in agony everyday I'm stiff and my shoulders are closed forwards when i wake up i have migraines 6 days a week but more often than not ill have 3 week solid migraine with it my whole body especially my shoulders kill. I understand im hypermobile but my skin isnt stretchy i cant do this with my hands my arms just go straight my knees slightly over extend if i force it my thumb touches wrist. Skin doesnt break. I get ill easily and im constantly drained. It hurts to brush my hair lift my arms and they cant go straight up. My back hurts and i reguarly "slip" discs in my spine especially in my sleep where i wake up screaming. When i got covid i was in a state i could barely breath i got pneumonia and everytime i felt better and i tried to do anything like a 2 minute jog it was like i relapsed pneumonia 5 times that winter . I actually had flash backs for a year after of the moment i couldnt breath atall. I didnt go hospital which was dumb because i thought itd be a death sentence with how over run they were and how far id let it go. This is just an example of how ill i get. I get tonsilitus and chest infections alot. The pain is the worst in shoulder joints and muscle running from tip of shoulder to neck. Is this really all hyper mobility because im being told everytjing likely comes down to this.
