Cold Air Intake and Tune tends to be one of the most popular options for Mustang GT owners as their first mod. CAIs like the JLT CAI and PMAS are often paired with a tune to gain horsepower. While this combo can lead to 25-30 rwhp, which is impressive, most of the gain is from the tune like Lund or PBD tunes.

JLT CAI or PMAS CAI that are paired with the tune often result in 3-5 HP, but also heat soak that can have negative impact on your horsepower. If you own a gen 3 coyote motor found in 2018 and up Mustang GTs then you actually lose horsepower given how efficient the stock air box is.

Just got a 2024 GT PP. First mod will be the supercharger which my dealer will do, to maintain a warranty.

So I have a 2018GT. Ford sells a bigger throttle and cold air intake with a tune. I recommend getting one from a trusted brand and letting ford install it to keep your warranty. It will make the car sound better and will help when you add headers

When I was thinking about getting a cold air intake I did my research. And what I found was that most people share exactly this idea. The stock air box is really good, just add a drop in filter. But what I never found a good answer for is why the GT350 and gen 3s with the Ford Performance calibration like Mach 1s and Bullits have open air boxes with a cone filter like a JLT? 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I know that but I'm going to get a tune, so I might as well go ahead and get it. The Roush one has two different inlet tubes depending on what you're doing. I'm looking for more than a 10 Hp increase.

That’s not true. Roush C.A.I… is a sealed concept and will give you more horsepower gains. I wouldn’t take this guys advice, specially when you’re putting in an oiled air filter what do you think is gonna happen in the long run?

Roush knows how to make horsepower, I seriously doubt that they don't work. Im going with the Roush kit for my 22 Mustang GT.

Hi, keep up the GREAT work with your information. Regarding cold air Intakes versus oem stock air boxes. My understanding is that for 2018 and up that the oem box has tubing from the box to the grill, which is basically a cold air Intake system. Think about it? I've done this exact same mod on my 18 pony and all seems going well.

What’s up man I just bought a k&n air filter for my 17 GT. I had a friend tell me I shouldn’t use these because they cause engine issues. Did you have any problems with it?

What if it’s a closed cold air intake, I’m currently looking at the corsa cold air intake with the carbon fiber, do you think it will lose power with it?

What if I get the pmas fenderwell intake. Would I lose power if I’m doing roll races? It’s an open air intake but no where near the engine bay.

They put the filter after the tune? And they create a theory based on that bs? Remap with air filter kit on not after the remap

Cold air intakes are a waste of money. I call them hot air intakes because you'll lose hp because it will suck in hot air from the engine. The stock air box is closed and will suck in more cooler air.

Yeah I know Mr know it all big mouth Lund turner. Roush knows how to make HP plus they have tunes too. I have a 2022 with carbon traps less 10 HP a Roush cold air would be unrestricted.
