[10th Anniversary Special #1] Unusual Railroad Crossings I've Recorded

For the first part of my 10th anniversary special, I decided to compile a video of all of the unusual setups I've filmed over the 10 years I've been doing this, ranging from slightly unusual to very strange.

(Also, I will admit I realized I forgot to include a couple of crossings after uploading this, lol.)

1:52:55 There is no other railroad crossing in the U.S. with a "school bell" like that!

The first railroad crossing in the video is one of the rarest and the weirdest railroad crossing I’ve seen in my life

3:00 - 10:44 Thanks for stopping by in my hometown of Savannah, GA!
There use to be a mechanical bell originally, but replaced it with a e-bell.

Where's that crossing located at 2:36:02? I remember somewhere in Wisconsin had that type of gate but it's been replaced years ago. It looks interesting and I wonder if it's still there

34:39. OK, that is through the roof in unsualility.
43:33. Why does only 1 side have a gate?

The first crossing uses traffic light poles.

The second crossing has a crossbuck placed across tracks, and uses a GS Type 3 e-bell.

The third crossing has tail-ring cantilevers.

The fourth crossing has a right cantilever.

The fifth crossing has tall poles.

The sixth crossing’s backlights are higher than the frontlights on the main signal.

The seventh crossing has randomly-placed signals.

The eighth crossing has a right cantilever.

The ninth crossing has a cantilever with the lights over a track.

The tenth crossing has 2 cantilevers on the right side.

The eleventh crossing uses an extremely rare cantilever.

The twelfth crossing has 1 gate.

The thirteenth crossing’s frontlights are higher than the backlights on the main signal.

The fourteenth crossing’s rare bell died.

The fifteenth crossing has an unusual light mount, and the signal on the left is across the street near the track.

The sixteenth crossing got its cantilevers ripped off.

The seventeenth crossing has a tall pole.

The eighteenth crossing has a signal not attached to the gated one, a rare bell, and a slow rising gate.

The nineteenth crossing has normal gates, but Australia-placed signals. This is not the Land Down Under, man! In fact, I haven’t been to Australia!

The twentieth crossing has various unusual stuff I can’t even describe.

The twenty first crossing has tall poles and an additional crossbuck.

The twenty second crossing has bent light mounts and shaky, diagonal gates.

The twenty third crossing has odd crossbucks.

The twenty fourth crossing has a diagonal gate and a tall pole.

The twenty fifth crossing uses a WCH bell cover.

The twenty sixth crossing has a bell nose.

The twenty seventh crossing has a tall pole.

The twenty eighth crossing has 2 additional lights on one of the cantilever poles.

The twenty ninth crossing has 4 sideways lights, a crossbuck facing the right, and the gatelights say “STOP” when activated.

The thirtieth crossing has an additional cantilever.

The thirty first crossing’s bell rings a few seconds after it activates.

The thirty second crossing uses traffic light poles.

The thirty third crossing has the “3 Tracks” and “ DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS” signs under the lights on the main signal.

The thirty fourth crossing’s sidelights are higher than the backlights on the main signal.

The thirty fifth crossing has no frontlights.

The thirty sixth crossing has randomly-placed signals, and a dog. 😂

The thirty seventh crossing uses a Simplex bell, and a slow-rising gate.

The thirty eighth crossing’s lights activate 1 second after the bell turns on.

I can’t even describe what makes the thirty ninth crossing unusual!

The fortieth crossing uses a bell nose.

The forty first crossing has 2 tall poles.

The forty second crossing has no frontlights on the left signal.

The forty third crossing has electric signs that indicate another train.

The forty fourth and forty fifth crossing’s signals are backwards.

The forty sixth crossing is at the side of a train station with 3 additional crossbucks.

The forty seventh crossing has a tall pole.

The forty eighth crossing has a right cantilever.

The forty ninth crossing is at a roundabout.

The fiftieth crossing has no frontlights.

The fifty first crossing’s signals are randomly-placed.

The fifty second crossing has a right cantilever and an extra crossbuck.

The fifty third crossing has 1 signal and 1 sign.

The fifty fourth crossing uses Energy Absorption Systems StopGate barriers.

The fifty fifth crossing’s cantilevers have lights over the 4 cantilevers at this crossing.

I don’t even know what makes the fifty sixth crossing unusual!

They need to put those light on a cantilever besides hanging down like that because the pole on the left is leaning that it could possibly snap and that’s not safe to have it like that. And also the gate on the left didn’t fully go down either. So who ever runs this line needs to upgrade that crossing

11:07 Bru not the gate getting stuck lol

2:35:56 is by far very unusual bc it's using drawbridge gates

At 11:10, if you look at the gate on the other side closely, it is stuck on the signal.

59:47 That's one thing that pisses me off more than drivers going right through activated crossings; taking the time to stop, showing common sense, only to say "screw it" and throw their one brain cell out the window by going through anyway....

Cool video. These crossing's would be interesting modeling subjects for an HO layout. I always wanted to make my own combinations. Thanks

1:13:29 This one took me a moment. Gate parallel to the track instead of perpendicular to the road. Not sure what the signals department was thinking there.
