I have been following these cases in England, because a friend of mine from X Rebellion was prosecuted twice. I noticed something that had perhaps gone unnoticed by the English lawyers. The strictest judges who act in these cases, restricting the right of defendants to present their cases freely (and even punishing those who dare to defy imposed restrictions) are adopting a procedural rite that is more similar to the military trials conducted by military judges in Brazil in the 1970s than to ordinary criminal proceedings conducted by ordinary judges. This is very worrying and proof that the English justice system is undergoing a major mutation.

The Jurors are "supposed to know those rights" regardless of what law the prosecutor and Defence raise.

Because the rights are separate from plea.

The rights are not plea based.

Also, petitioning IS covered by parliament privileges so its shouldnt have been in the court anyway and as you are opposing parliament, the Attorney General is not supposed to be taking any side. In a case that already exists the XR actions in the first place....

The Prosecutions were illegal.

Yes, we are in the shit, not so much for myself as my time is limited, but for the younger generation it is not looking good, our demand for resources alone cannot be maintained.
Could our species have taken a different path, It is debatable.

Relating to costs of climate change... Problem is no one country is going to solve climate change by itself. The UK's and even Europe's emissions hardly matter for the overall.

Investing in costly measures to reduce emissions, will 1) be costly to that countries budget 2) give you no garantee that you will avoid future costs from climate change, and 3) will even put said country at an economical and geo-political disadvantage vis-a-vis countries that do not make these costs.

This is a collective action problem/prisoners dillema and should be treated as such, instead of creating moralising narratives of evil rich governements/corporations destroying us all.

I really am at a loss now, maybe i have been striving of my own egoistic urge to see change, now at least ime in a position where i can admit i dont have a clue & convinced we're governed by those who have yet to admit they dont have a clue either, if i knew i would open my mouth anyway & keep us in this same status quo, the thing is, if we are not doing our best then with what we do & expect should we expect anything other than a good bitch slap, like i said, i dont have a clue, water never depletes, we knew from the 50s how to run engines of hydrogen, cars should be hovering above the ground so we know we need not run vehicles on tyres which are clogging up air filters set up around clued up countries aware to our polluting activities, did 1 ever think where the worn out particles from tyres actually went, its like realising the destruction of our lungs from asbestos which are now removed from brakes, like i said, we're a different animal now, not one governed by destructive fools, but 1 by an emerging force that is beyond the reckoning of my mindset & even then ime no where near the top with those in the the Premier league of awesone minds, i know ime not in the lower divisions of reckless minds which also include those that dont care, thrive of plagerism & cause wars & trouble, maybe thankfully ime 1 of the seeds they tried to bury but just top soil kept germinated enouth to grow new healthy loving souls, & so it begins, life 🌳🌴🫂☯️☮🌎
