Actually, in astrophysics, the scientists kind of consider it a badge of honor to disprove others theories. So the stuff that we hear as relatively confirmed, means that a bunch of people were studying it trying to discredit somebody's research, and found out they couldn't. So most of the stuff that comes through is pretty well-founded. Not to say mistakes aren't made, but it's not wild guesses.

The way scientists determine the composition of a planet I think is called spectroscopy. Every element has its own wavelength so I presume when they conclude a planet's composition they can use other parameters such as distance from its star etc to reach a very educated conclusion of what to expect. Don't quote me. I'm no expert. But I do watch NatGeo etc!🤣

8:39 I don't mean to be rude but you have a very weird idea of how scientific research works. I am not a scientist myself, but I have spend enough time at university and looking into scientific methods just out of superficial curiosity (it's easy to look into on the internet) to know that this is not at all how it works. There is usually lots of research, calculations, hard work and scientific theories, that are constantly being checked and questioned by other scientists going into statements like that. No "scientist" making wild and baseless claims like that would be taken serious by other scholars.
Criticising scientific research based on your own theories and research is one thing, but criticising it based on simply not knowing how it works is like criticising a UFC fighters fighting style because you saw a few Jackie Chan movies.

If anyone’s wondering about what he means by ice-7, it’s that the water pressure at the bottom of GJ1214b would be so extreme that ice would be formed by pressure instead of a drop in temperature, kind of like how the earth’s core is solid iron because of pressure.

They send space crafts that can have traveled through the solar system. The furthest one away is voyager 1 which was launched in 1977. It is at the very edge of the solar system and has been traveling further away from earth for over 45 years now but it still has about 40, 000 years before it can reach the nearst star. They also use telescopes in space that can see further than what we would imagine

NASA and public astronomical observatories (some in the U S, some around the world, some attached to public colleges, some private and some of the other space agencies though none get the money that NASA does) are 'who' does this research. Most is based on various telescopic observations, but if you note (by the pictures of the surface) we have sent a probe to Titan. This was in the mid 2000's, around 2006 or thereabouts if I recall correctly.

they claim tha Jupiter has an atmosphere of hydrogen (a form of carbon) and since it is a gas giant with so much atmosphere, pressure and temperature work on things and it rains diamonds

Sorry to say Justin, but I think you're wrong about scientists. Anyone can be a scientist and these findings are not discovered by just one person, every scientist may analyze the data and can dispute any of these facts, AND it happens all the time. Not specifically with these facts, but you know what I mean. Sorry man, but I just had to inform you. Rview any videos where Neil Degrasse Tyson speaks about the scientific method and you'll see. He's really good at explaining this point.
