In this fundamentals video we cover some very basic elements of the game: placing city stations, effectively and consistently building working track, dealing with curves near stations, placing stations on uneven ground, dealing with rough terrain and merging with existing track.

This video is more than essential, it is indispensable. 1_I didn't realize by myself that the outermost track cost more! I saw the absurd cost but I did not understand why. 2_Thanks also for pointing out the pointer with the maximum speed indication, which I hadn't noticed. 3_I liked placing the signals by myself, however now it's faster. 4_The single crossing for the exchanges can still be done alone but it is really convenient to be automated. 5_In the RE1 game settings I had set the game speed to 75%, it helped me to win the challenges of the scenarios. I didn't find this option in RE2

Hey! I watched all of your stuff on the original game. Was very HAPPY to see you pop up this morning and learn that there was a new game. You do a great job with these videos man. Steam is downloading the game now and can't wait to play along with ya! Tim

The drive on the right/left thing makes my brain work so much better. I never thought to organise it like that, or maybe I did last time, but forgot. When there are so many one way tracks I was getting so lost.

Coming from transport fever 2 I must say RE2 is so much better holy sh*t. You're videos are exactly what I was looking for.

For dealing with contours, in order to minimize tunnels and bridges outside of stations, get the track as parallel as possible with the contour lines.

Спасибо, за то что Вы продолжаете нас учить! Даже если Вы повторяете что-то несколько раз, это интересно и полезно! И очень хорошо, что Вы не просто записываете свою игру, а рассматриваете все её тонкости.

Couple of things worth noting. The parallel tracking 'hint' that auto completes a parallel line, only appears when tracking directly from station platform to station platform, it will not show up when connecting to a junction or 'wild' track node.

Secondly. Gridirons are amazing, and free. But the more tracks you want to cover the longer the stretch of uninterrupted space you'll need and it MUST be parallel track for the iron to read it. If you didn't have the parallel track symbol next to that piece of track when you built it the gridiron will ignore it.

You can run multiple grid irons into a station, but each can only touch a track once per that side of the station. I tried to create a 6 lane system with 3, '2 track' Gridirons to save space, where the Gridirons were staggered from the outside track moving in, but as soon as one is placed on a track it will delete any other gridiron that's on that track, even if there was plenty of space to not overlap them.

Also Gridirons are final, yes you can demolish them, but once placed the earliest you can junction tracks into them is at the beginning (raised walkway with lights). You will not be able to slide a cheeky junction into the side of a gridiron.

Great info! The platform costs and the gridiron distance are great!

You should also mention that you can have up to 5 track planned now, look at the arrows in the track planning window.

You can daisy chain stations together to move them out of the city core.

One thing I've noticed is that on cities like Toledo (the northernmost end) where the inner city (green area) isn't in the middle of the outer city (red area) you can end up having the station platforms end outside of the city boundaries and have issues with connecting them to lines later. Not sure it happens every time, but I had it happen to me yesterday, so maybe something to keep in mind.

How do you set track direction on a single track? I am in the tutorial; I have placed stations where they said to, built single tracks for each station, and built supply towers. I created a separate freight train to go to each station. The tutorial will not unpause. I have even made a double track and set the opposite directions; the tutorial remains paused. I want to learn how to run this game, but I have spent more time on this tutorial than expected.

Sometimes I use the topography to have a train go downhill when fully loaded from a rural station as when it returns empty the uphill part does not impact the train speed that much

Great videos on Railway Empire 2 so far! Warehouse in every station near goods or a few 3 station warehouse hubs, I have not decided yet. maybe the campaign maps will decide for me. liked and subbed, keep dropping the great content!

Excellent video. I got so used to the automation that it didnt even occur to me to stub out lines to min/max the use of signal stations @14:50 - 16:30 learning more and more about the subtitle changes that encourage more of the design management rather then settling for set it and forget it (which is an option but you could lose out on better long term effects).
