If Roberta hadn't fired Luther Vandross, we would've never known how wonderful Luther actually was. He was very comfortable singing back up for Roberta and he hadn't planned to ever leave the group, Roberta "Lovingly fired" him after he wrote NEVER TOO MUCH. He simply could NOT continue to be a background Singer. Thank you Roberta. Love the song "Just when I needed you" one of my favorites.

I had the honor of meeting her back in 1984. I was only 9 years old but she came to my parent's house as the dinner guest of a mutual friend. I knew who she was but looking don't think I fully appreciated that I was in the midst of actual soul and R&B music royalty. I get it now, she deserves all flowers while she's still here 💐

I saw Roberta right before Covid hit, she performed regularly at a local resort along with Sinbad, when I saw her she'd had a stroke the year prior but it didn't effect her show, voice or appearance she looked & sound fabulous & didn't miss a beat, I also saw her in 79, underrated is an understatement, shes a cultural icon

I don't think Roberta Flack is under rated as much as she is forgotten. She is also a classically trained pianist. It's great that you bring up this issue. She is truly a treasure and her name needs to be mentioned more often. Alicia Keyes should mention Roberta Flack more, she does mention Donny Hathaway.

I highly respect Roberta Flack.She to me is so classy elegant talented beautiful and has the gift of making people feel good. I was in my early twenties when I got her first album. Never stopped purchasing her music after that. And her and Donny!!! breath taking. Love, love, love.
