The xp farm works amazingly well, after smelting the minimum 7 stacks I get about 70 levels from about 40-50 potatoes now, also the more you smelt the more xp you will get after you take one item out every time. Also this makes enchanting gear very easy, you can experiment with lvl 3 enchantments again and again just to see what's best and don't worry about the levels.
Also tip: don't use kelp, it works but it not even half as good as potatoes, still usable but not as good

I have a question. Why do you need lava for the Fish XP Farm? Im fairly new to the concept of Fish Farms so forgive me if I didnt understand :/

This may seem like a dumb question, but can you/we use the f3 + t afk fishing on the fish farm? And thanks for explaining to Axy76 the lava no damage fishing trick- I never knew that too.

The sugarcane farm only needs one observer just connect the one in the middle to all the pistons with red stone
