I think text based platforms offer a better learning environment compared to videos. They force you to write the code in order to progress. You can't just watch the videos and fool yourself into thinking you're learning stuff.

The fact that it is NOT video based is a huge help to me. When I watch videos, I tend to find myself multitasking (a.k.a. not paying attention) without even realizing I'm doing it. 🙂

It has gotten even better, they have broken down the web development line into Frontend, Backend, and Full stack.

I really like that they aren't video-based. The interactive style of learning is helping me a lot. I'm on the free version doing the Python 2 course and I love it so far. The fact that you're coding on every step of the way alongside the topic that they are teaching I think is very useful, getting the experience of actually typing code from the get-go feels really good. YOu don't have to go back and forth between a video, pausing and being frustrated. It's really beginner-friendly which I like as I'm completely new.
If I get through my python 2 course I will for sure get the pro version and learn more.

The reason I never stuck with codeacademy is I felt like I was just copying and pasting stuff. I had the same problem with FCC as well. But I can see how it will be helpful for beginners to dip their toes in the water.

I've just started at codeacademy as a refresher for html and css. I really like the non video approach it allows me to listen to nice music while learning haha. I seem to learn better by doing vs watching as well

I quit video and lecture based bootcamp last year and gave up and found codeacademy pro to refresh myself in html and css and that it tells you what your mistakes are, its pretty good so far. I want to freelance cheap basic sites and keep building my skills.

The year is cheaper than the bootcamp that i took last year for just html css and basic js.

I just turned 36 and i just want to be self employed. The Pandemic gave me a taste of working at home on my own time and I am HUNGRY

Love codeacademy, used FCC but love how codeacademy is more detailed. Felt there was alot of gaps in my learning in FCC.

Interactive learning is definitely better. Especially for codding and codeacademy balances the theory and the practical very well

Use a combination of books, online courses, and making your own small projects and learning with stackoverflow etc. Just keep at it with each take written notes if thats helpful and review the notes of problems you had all the time until you understand it

This amazing method for learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and programming languages. I love it.

They added a JS Data Structures and Algorithms section (I think it’s under “preparing for the technical interview”) and I found it really helpful… I’ve used CC off and on over the past year and found it a useful as a refresher (practicer?) for certain topics.

Career paths have step by step projects and open-ended projects in almost every section. So you are forced to think by yourselve how to solve the project too just after you have watched how to do step by step examples. It is no longer true that codecademy use just step by step projects

Thanks for the review. I have been doing codecademy about a week now, and I have been considering the pro subscription. I will be sure to update this comment once I have time to work with Pro.

Would you please tell me how your viewers are able to see your monitor? Do you just aim a camera at it or is there a program you use? Thinking about Vlogging but know nothing about it or how to get started. Thank you.

2 yrs ago I bought the course. I had a very hard time with the python 3 course. So I just quit and YouTube videos to learn python TV on. 2yrs I rejoined the codecademy. I realized now the first 5% of the python 3
course is crap. But once you get past that it gets better. After doing 2yrs of YouTube video and my own projects. The python 3 course is easy. Hopefully I can get threw it quickly and move on to more advanced topics

I have a question about Codecademy pro. When you don't pay in the next month, can you open the finished lesson again?
