I used data camp for a year when I started my phd and completed data analyst data scientist career tracks twice that's 200 hours on data camp plus doing projects on the side. In my 3rd year of PhD I did all the analysis necessary to show my data in 2 days. I have helped other people from the consortium with their analyses and also build shiny apps. It's feels like cheating sometimes because it takes me 5 minutes to do something that would take hours in excel. Definite worth it

I would say that if not the only way, than by far the best way to get into any Tech role as a self-taught person is to perceive respective Tech field as a hobby, and if you're unable to perceive it as a hobby, that field/role most definitely is not or you.

Speaking from experience, you need to treat your data skills development like a recipe book. You can have the best recipe in the world but you wouldn't stop after step 4 and take a couple of months away from the kitchen, and then wonder why no one wants to eat your cake. You have to keep at it

What he is saying is true. The path you should follow is go to data camp and learn your SQL and python or R and the visualization tool. Put those skills into practice by make a portfolio Take the Microsoft exams and keep applying for jobs.
