The M-7 Lancer is an assault rifle in Mass Effect 3.
The M7-Lancer is a rare collector's item that was introduced shortly after the First Contact War. The Lancer has been refurbished by an unknown master weaponsmith, and it now uses the higher velocity rounds of today's weaponry. It does not need heat sinks, instead utilizing weapon heat-generation from an earlier era. Few of these finely crafted weapons are in existence.
With Mass Effect 3: Citadel downloaded, the M-7 Lancer can be obtained during the mission Citadel Archives: Escape. It is found in a display case on the capsule containing information on the First Contact War.

- The Lancer works similarly to the Particle Rifle. It has a finite magazine size but has unlimited reserve ammo, and it will overheat after a magazine is emptied. It will regenerate its magazine while it is not being fired.
- An Assault Rifle Magazine Upgrade will provide between 16-32 extra rounds, giving the rifle a greater sustained fire before pausing to recharge its magazine. This means that at level X, the Lancer can have a 102 round magazine with the level 5 magazine mod.
- The Lancer fires in a similar manner to the M-8 Avenger, but has greater damage and recoil. The Assault Rifle Stability Damper mod will help bring its accuracy more in line with the M-8 Avenger.
- Take care to not allow the magazine to run down to zero, since its somewhat lengthy overheating animation forces a break in using powers or running. Any action that stops the overheating animation requires starting the cooling process over again. Changing to another weapon will not help this process.
- When the Lancer is overheated, activating Marksman or Adrenaline Rush can automatically make the gun start regenerating its magazine.
- The Lancer is among the lightest assault rifles in the game; its weight is identical to that of the Phaeston. Pair this with its unending ammo supply, and it makes a good weapon for classes focused on using powers on a regular basis.

Lancer + Suppressor = The Mother Fucker!

I went through a bunch of AR's, including the Particle Beam, the Revenant, and the less exotic ones. Upon finding the Lancer, I finally understood why Zaeed used to bang on about his crappy old rifle being his favourite.

Right with you Zaeed.

My favorite weapon in Mass Effect 3. Lightweight, unlimited ammo, cool "reload" animation (although that got me killed a few times) and lore wise a historical collectors item. Zaeed had taste no lie.

The Lancer is an awesome weapon you can get when doing the Citadel DLC missions. I love this weapon with the extra magazine and armor piercing mod. Only downside, to me, is that the weapon gets a bit buggy if you actually run it out of ammo and takes forever to get it to reload sometimes.

Who doesn't love to have infinite ammo without the need of cheating?
The lancer fills that spot perfecly.
Give it the heavy barrel upgrade and magazine upgrade and boom... when both the weapon and mods are fully upgraded, you have an armor-piercing juggernaut with over 100 rounds to unload each time before having to cool down

This thing with the extended barrel and disruptor ammo, becomes so good, it's almost game breaking. I am playing with this thing on insanity, and it rips through centurions, like it's nothing. Not many guns can do that, on insanity difficulty.

I've found myself tearing through hordes of Brutes and even some Banshees with the M7-Lancer kitted out with a heavy barrel attachment and the extra ammo module paired with Incendiary Ammo. And once the enemies catch on fire, I concussive shot them to make them explode. Very fun to watch hordes of Brutes and even Banshees die fast and blow up

While the Valkyrie is my go to rifle in ME3, the Lancer comes close. I had a blast using it in the Armax Arsenal Arena.

Best gun in the game imo, but make sure to pair it with a decent lightweight hand cannon like the paladin or suppressor. I ran a vanguard build with the lancer and paladin, which are both so light that I was able to keep 200% weight capacity. Maximised the damage and clip size with weapon mods, and I could kill anything with the lancer at hip fire faster than any shotgun. Add in Cerberus spirit armor for maximum power recharge, and I flew around like a human missile with 2 second cooldown charge and nova, using the lancer with inferno ammo to wipe out anything my nova left alive, and kept the paladin for the off chance that my lancer overheated. Did an insanity run with it plus the garrus typhoon build and smashed. S tier build highly recommend.

You basically just made a pre-heatsink gun right there AKA OG ME1 style!

Fir my insane runs. I just use Particle Beam you get from Javik. Upgrade it with incendiary. Keep James with me or Valhalla Garrus. Game plays itself.

I love how it keeps its absolutery thunderous sound from ME1

This is actually my go to for the arena in my infiltrator build. Cerberus harrier + black widow + weight capacity boost is too heavy and reduces power recharge. BW + lancer gives a +50% bonus and ammo ALWAYS goes to the BW. That and i can still drop super elite enemies surprisingly quickly

NICE! I love the lancer rifle in the games. :)

Is this on insanity? I don't remember this AR being this lethal.

Try the Cerberus Harrier, which like others can be upgraded to lvl V. It's only 165, 000 credits at the embassy Spectre office. ;) It's a full-auto version of the Mattock and even prior to being upgraded to lvl V is perhaps the best weapon in the game. Of course that's just my opinion. I use it with the extended barrel and recoil damper mods along with AP or incendiary ammo depending on the expected enemy for a given mission. For example vs Cerberus forces, if using AP ammo, it not only ignores their large white shields but most other forms of cover as well, including concrete walls and most other objects used for cover. And that's on Insanity difficulty.

Note: even the best tools do not make one an expert mechanic. Hence firearms, like tools, require a competent user. I say that as a firearms and self-defense instructor, as well as someone who's been a gamer since I could press a button.

I'm just going to put this out there, nothing to do with guns. But is anyone else annoyed with the inclusion of that robot dog? So unnessessary.

I prefer the phaeston, High clip size without the overheating problem I run into with the Lancer, still love the lancer though

watch out for overheating problems and find a cover to reload
