In this video I share 6 tips for improving your art! These are all things that I personally have done to improve throughout my art career and I think they're the best for lifelong improvement. By following these tips you're sure to develop smart habits and ways of practicing that will help you improve quicker! Remember that a positive mindset is so important! Art is hard but you can do this! I believe in you! ✨

Also, while recording this video I ran into so many random issues like my neighbor mowing his grass, me not pressing record on the first take, and my phone almost running out of battery... so when you see the camera move several times its because they were all different takes haha.

"As we get older and we learn more about art, we fear of messing up." Yeah. I remember when I was still in my teens, after I drew something, I really love it so much but now, I feel like I'm criticizing it too much. hahahahahahah. I guess I need to relax a little bit.

ppl who say refrence is cheating will not grow as an artist like how do you wanna know how something looks if you dont look at it while drawing

I literally want to scream my younger self to the ground because I wanted a "quick fix" and instead of trying to learn over time, I decided to just continue the way I always drew and I stagnated. Everyone should realize that you really have to practice and LEARN to become better, otherwise you'll stay where you are

I never use a reference and I mostly draw floating heads which explains why I’m not improving

Edit: stop hating in the comments it’s been 3 years sense the last time I used Gacha and having Gacha downloaded in your device doesn’t mean it’s the reason your art sucks you people should get over it.

I am a perfectionist and it ruined my motivation for art. I stopped drawing for more than 3 years and all these years I have been feeling so anxious and guilty that I couldn't draw at all. These few days, I'm slowly working on the drawing that I didn't finish back then in 2016. This video came at the right timing, I'm glad that it tells me more than just "keep on practicing". Although I have to relearn so many things, I'm going to make sure that I don't stop drawing ever again.. Thanks for the great video!!

Sometimes I think I've been too hard on my self concerning my art and it's all just because I desperately want to get better, sometimes no matter what I draw I'm never satisfied and I keep seeing the mistakes I make despite the time and effort I put into that piece, the whole process sometimes makes me depressed and then I take a break for a while and start all over again and it just seems like I'm not improving, worse is that I don't even think I have an art style yet cause I draw a lot of random things

For me I think my art has gotten worse, i used to be really good at drawing dynamic poses, details, and even hands. I think it’s because I started to post it online (not saying where) and now I basically don’t draw for myself anymore, it’s always going to be posted online or plan it to be posted online...I had fun drawing before I started posting...now it’s gotten less enjoyable than it used to be...I’m going to try my best to not post everything I draw online anymore, I’ll just keep some of my drawings to myself and let my drawings be messy. Thank you Erika for helping me figure this out

This video is by far one of the most helpful "how to improve" art video I've seen. I've been drawing seriously for five or six years now, and because I'm having to take the semester off from art school due to this Covid situation, I've decided to really focus on growing my art abilities and preparing a portfolio for an internship. So I've been searching for like the last 2 weeks to gather advice, and this is the first video where I'm like "I'm going to have to watch this again just to write everything down" because there is just SO much useful information in here! Like other videos would suggest using references or drawing frequently, but not *how* to use references and study them or *what* to draw when drawing frequently.

I'm just gonna leave this comment here (even though I barely comment on the internet) because I just needed to say it. This video is SUPER helpful and is inspiring me to pick up a pencil right now to go apply these things to my art. So THANK YOU! I really, really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to give such helpful advice to all the budding artists out there!
