True Meaning Of Labor Day

Today's rough weather may change Labor Day plans for many people, but it's about more than barbecues and beaches anyway. Today, the country pays tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. CBS2's Jennifer McLogan reports.

Labor Day, 2019 brings to me feelings of guilt because I was unable to work full time and that I was unable to work my way off of the disability assistance rolls. I worked hard, and I did my best, but, for reasons related to my disability, I guess, I was unable to work my way off of the rolls. due to all of the medical issues on top of my psychiatric issue, I cannot even work part time. I have a lot of guilt because I live-I have no choice--I live off the labor of others. Being dependent on the American taxpayers shams me and makes me feel very guilty. I feel a lot of shame, and I talk suicide, when I see staff here mopping the floors, or I see workers working out of trucks. I am very ashamed that I am unable to work. People on the internet have abused me when I post comments on news sites defending the disability assistance programs. I am very ashamed that I am not working and that I never worked full time. I often think of myself as a bum.
