I sometimes hear a family member call my name. It seems so real, like they’re right there.

I like that she didn't imply that spiritual people are not also clinical

I have a voice in my head that says very literal observations that tend to be hilarious. Pants are the only legs shaped thing you own. On a geological timescale, we all die together! Cardboard boxes are the hotdogs of wood.

I just love this open, accepting take on voice hearing. Dr. Marks, we need you in this day and age!

Once I heard a man's voice as clear as day tell me that if I "drink enough water everything will be fine" in regards to my illness. It's literally what got me to start drinking more water and less of other things, just see if it worked, lol. Never had anything like that happen again. Though I have had exploding head syndrome a few times, and at least one hypnogogic hallucination

I talk to voices all the time, it doesn't cause me distress, since in a way it helps me cope with stress instead of adding to it. And it's more frequent when I'm under stress/pressure. It never made me act abnormal towards others or anything, just talking to myself to get over my own depression/stress helps to de-stress the situation.

Thank you for this, Doctor. I believe that I have developed a type of " clairaudience" in which I hear certain people's voices who I am close to when they are thinking about me, or trying to contact me. It has been verified through experience. I first noticed this nearly 30 years ago. It's never particularly worried me. I just accepted it. It's also not often, but every once in a while.

It’s so important that you take the time to decide if you are hearing voices or if it is your inner thoughts you are hearing. A lot of the time people confuse this.

Everyone hears voices in their heads. Hearing voices means you hear them in the room you are in; voices no one else hears.

Thank you for validating that people can hear spiritual entities. I rarely hear voices but when I do it’s with very specific information that I really wouldn’t have been able to come up with myself and is always true. For example when I meet people who are going to become important players in my life this voice will tell me that they’re coming into my orbit when I first lay eyes on them or give me specific information about them that turns out to be true. I used to think these were flukes but it’s turned out to be highly accurate and prophetic every time. So I just listen and of course, take with a grain of salt just in case it’s my imagination this time. It sounds like a woman’s voice but not my own. Sometimes she likes to laugh at me, which in hindsight is kinda funny. I consider her a spirit guide although it could be my higher power of God itself. I don’t think it’s for me to know but I am so grateful for this guidance.

I've heard Michael Jackson's voice. He said something like, "I was so tired by the end, ". It was distressing, but it only happened once.

I have schizoaffective disorder and my auditory hallucinations are rarely distressing. Usually it’s pretty benign like hearing music playing, nature sounds (I live in the city), my name or a short phrase being spoken (usually an observation about what’s going on), random vocalizations, that kind of thing.

I’ve had these for a lot of my life, and I assumed it was normal. The more troubling ones are the visual and tactile hallucinations that I get, but even still it’s the terror of delusions and paranoia and the blunt fogginess of negative symptoms that are the most distressing.

I remember my flatmate and I realised that our neighbour's parrot was sometimes on the balcony and that we were just hearing this talented bird's repertoire, not losing our minds. It was comforting to us both, as neither one of us had admitted it, but we'd both assumed we were having occasional spells of psychosis in the shower 🙈 I knew that I wasn't distressed, but it definitely didn't seem like a television and yet this bird was pretending to be an ambulance, could produce various different voices and whistled flirtatiously. It was just a weird set of complex noises that didn't match the distance, the context, etcetera

I've had these calming voice very seldom . but they were comforting & do believe spirits are close to us. I've had medium experiences on an occasional basis.
