I usually do the exercises that I can't solve in my mind right away, but when I do, I usually change them up a bit so they are a little more fun, say we are given a boring ol' User(email, password), I make it more interesting by making Hamster(name, cutenessFactor) or Sword(rarity, damage)

I usually don't do exercises but sometimes I do if they have interesting problem.

I do the exercises when I want to solidify the knowledge rather than merely use the book as a reference or to become familiar with the material. I’m doing Zionomicon exercises now. I would not pay for a course without exercises.
