if you have temporarily no heat, go outside, make a fire, and heat a few bricks on top of it. Then lay a couple of rows of COLD bricks down in the center of your smallest room, and onto those bricks you put your HOT BRICKS. The more the better. Then watch your room smile with warmth in no time. Rinse, and repeat, as needed.

Glass jar breaking... i had a normal candle get so hot it cracked the glass and if i had not been in the room it would've set fire to the wood table. Simple fix: now i ALWAYS put my glass jars on a ceramic plate or surface that won't burn if the glass cracks.

Well I can say my dog's are like a heating blanket in bed I recommend that people let your fur babies sleep with you they really will keep you warm at night and if you don't have a dog go to the shelter and adopt one it's a win win for everyone just saying!!!

I went and purchased big containers of Crisco because of your videos. A terracotta pot too for heat. Thanks for always providing quality videos to help us in our prepping journey.

Tip: When you're done burning any type of candle or the crisco take a small stick or a candle tool and bend the lighted wick into the melted wax or crisco. The flame will go out and the next time you light it there shouldn't be any smoking or soot. Be sure to trim the wick before you light it. If the wick is too long that will also cause smoking and soot.
For all of you who know that I broke my arm and was in the hospital and nursing home rehab for 51 days, I came home today, thank you Jesus and everyone that was praying for me. My pitsky named Amazing Grace and I are so happy to be back together. God bless all the furbabies and those who love them 👑🙏💞🐾🕯🕯🕯🕯🕯

Best idea is to get some small thin 100% beeswax candles, and use those as the wick in these candles. Beeswax candles burn clean, with a minimum of smoke and the wax burns completely, which is why they were required to be used in churches for centuries. Since beeswax candles burn completely, it is a MUCH better choice to use for a wick than just sticking a regular candle in the Crisco to use as a wick. The wick in the regular candle is sized for that size candle. using a two-small of a wick will result in tunneling down the center of the candle.

RE:soot -- "Silly Putty" was originally developed as a way to remove soot from walls and wallpaper, back when so many houses were heated with oil (and so would eventually have oil soot on the walls).

Made these right after your last video on how to do it. My daughter thought I was nuts. We have gone thru lots of power outages in our lives but never knew how to do this. When I first made them the shortening -off brand crisco- was only $2-3 for a large can. Now it is $6. But I reused all of the old fancy candle jars I had and a bunch of tapers from the dollar tree. We are all set! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

In my area of Eastern Washington denatured alcohol/Fuel fuel for alcohol heaters, stoves.... Has gone from $25 a Gallon to #21.99 for a Quart. Heat is a bigger issue than most are willing to recognize. Thanks for one more reminder !
Nobody wants the old cookie sheets sold at garage and estate sales. I usually get them free, and they are GREAT for having a safe place to set candles, the matches, lighter, wick A place to keep things gathered and organized in a power down world.

Letting the candle burn to hot at the bottom can break the glass and start a fire. I like the crisco idea😊

Made one out of a massive popcorn can LOL it took six cans of Crisco to fill it up and many candles in it! It's a great heater

Excellent information! Thanks for the tips. I actually used your crisco heater and candle idea to stay warm last winter in an emergency after my expensive generator ran out of battery. Thank you so much!!! I also have the 4 Patriots solar flashlight and love it. Every time a repair guy comes and uses mine (because they are notorious for forgetting their flashlight), they buy it off me. I have to keep buying more. These flashlights are totally cool!

THESE DO WORK! Been getting ready for weeks now, time to get it done. The winter forecast is grimm. Wet heavy snow, ice on powerlines, whatever. Hey can keep pipes from freezing too. I still need a battery Co2 detector. 2 persons live ing in a small house that don't see eye to eye means blocking off rooms and tents inside not only to stay warm, but to quarentine if necessary. Some places, no electric, no water. Terracotta pots trap soot while acting as a space heater. Get you one of those battery operated fans and you can keep your food you worked so hard to can from freezing too. Good luck all of you, this info he just gave you could save your life.

If you have solar lights lining your walkway, just grab one of those for light when the electricity goes out. Much safer than an open flame!

I’m glad to see you getting back to instructional how to use an advice like you did when you first started out. Depending on other peoples posts or messages they send to you has definitely proved not to be very dependable. I enjoy your videos and I appreciate the hard work you put into them. There’s so many areas that need covered and refreshed for all of us as we move along in our journey. We’re always looking for gardening tips, heating tips, survival tips, food storage tips and the list goes on and on
