VW Golf MK7 (5G) MIB2 grid layout menu activation

How to enable #facelift grid menu in MIB2 #VW Media infotainment system. If you are running facelift firmware, you can switch between old and new #skin from the hidden menu. New skin was designed for newer larger 8 inch glass displays. Other than menu, you can also notice smaller fonts, 6 radio presets, 6 favorite contacts in phone. You can switch between skins from the hidden menu which is accessible if you have the developer mode enabled.

ℹ️ For Technisat/Preh unit you need firmware from the 04xx family. Latest one is P0480T.

ℹ️ The same procedure will apply to other Volkswagen vehicles with MIB2 system: Polo, Passat, Arteon, Crafter, Tiguan, Touran.

Module 09 → Diagnostic Session → Development
Module 09 → Adaptation → developer mode → Activated

I actually have an 8" glass screen that I swapped in when I did the MIB2 upgrade on my 2015 Golf TDI. I went and checked and sure enough, I had the setting for the 8". I now have the grid view. Thanks!

If you don´t want to enable the Skin for the 8" Screens, you can also enable "UserSwitchableMenuMode" with MIB2STDToolbox under customization -> skins.

I recently moved from PO631 PO635 and was able to get the 4 skins you showed on your HMI screen. My question is all of my skins are red. Is this because byte 18 is set to 03 (GTI)? Does the splash screen affect the skin colors? If not, how do you get different color skins on a MIB2 STD PO635?

Hello, wondering if anyone can help me here!

I’ve been looking to upgrade my unit from mib1 with small screen up to an mib2 with the 6.5” screen.

As my car hasn’t got nav on it currently, I understand I need an attachment gps to my unit.

Which mib2 unit do I need to allow Waze, Apple Maps, etc, to work on my unit. Does it need to be a discover media, pro or any other? Thanks in advance.
