I just want to wholeheartedly know why?

My family are originally from the UK. My mother and hers before her started holding baby over potty at 3 months and fully trained by 12 months. Why. The had 1 dozen cloth nappies. Handwashing, lots of rainy days. It was hard to get them dry. So the easiest and most sensible thing was to toilet train. I was a bit late . I started when my babies were 6 months and trained by 18 months. Much easier to empty a potty. Kind to the environment. In all ways. The diaper companies tell you not to rush your baby. Because this means your purchasing diapers for years instead of months. Making them richer.

My 3rd baby was never potty trained. She would crawl up the stairs to follow her sisters. Baby #1 sat on the toilet, baby #2 sat on the potty with many smiles and congratulations as she performed. #3 pulled down her diaper by sucking in her stomach. She danced while she waited for the potty chair. When she sat down, it was like an explosion. Lol. At 9 months, my sweet baby was potty trained. We went to the baby store in London and she picked out her own panties. Honestly, they were so small I could fit one hand in her panties. My oldest daughter walked at 15 months. The second child walked at 18 months. They both were very fast at crawling. My doctor told my husband and me to stop bringing their toys to them. My sweet #3 was walking at 7 months. And soon after she was running in the garden barefooted.

This 3rd child was very active and was captain in her basketball team. She rowed in crew during high school and college. Needless to say, this baby kept us hopping with activities . At age 8, she rode her horse in competitions and always placed first or second.

Each child is an individual and achieves at their own rate. I love my babies who are now 53, 51 and 49. ❤

I used cotton terry nappies back in the 80's. Then soaked them, washed and dried them outside, weather permitting..😊

It's alright to potty train your baby that young, but let's remain human about it, & not train the baby outside/outdoors as the animals do.

For anyone interested in doing this, do some research and be relaxed about it. Forcing it doesn’t work, particularly as they become more and more aware. I did this with one of mine, and was very successful until he reached 18 months old and went on strike. It’s fine, he potty train normally when he was three.

One does not know when the baby needs to go. Are you going to hold the baby hours on end just waiting for her to go. Ridiculous

let me just say first of all there's a lot of reasons you don't do that. unless you're preparing them to be homeless in the future!!

Elimination communication has changed the game for us. My 13 month old started peeing in the toilet and he can’t even talk yet. Just so amazing to me. I only started at 9 months too. Can only imagine if I had started sooner.

Ok so I get the cost and landfill argument. The argument about “they did this before diapers”. Well they had outhouses before toilets. Should we go back to outhouses? It’s a weird setup. The thing I don’t agree with is the infant has no ability to understand or control what they’re doing. It’s the adult who has to helicopter parent over them 24/7 watching for “cues” baby has to potty. The adult is being trained, not the baby. I just feel the child will never have the ability to just “be” as it gets older. Are the parents up all night watching for cues? That’s not healthy for anyone. Why can’t you use cloth diapers? It just feels like these children will always have someone over them constantly. But to each their own…🌷
