🎤 Lyrics: Dax - To Be A Man

[Chorus]
I can't hide myself
I don't expect you to understand
I just hope I can explain
What it's like to be a man
It's a lonely road
And they don't care 'bout what you know
It's not 'bout how you feel
But what you provide inside that home

[Verse 1]
Yeah, I know this life can really beat you down, uh
You wanna scream but you won't make a sound, uh
Got so much weight that you've been holdin'
But won't show any emotion, as a man, that goes unspoken
That we can't cry when life gets hard
Unconditional love for women, children, and dogs
We know that we just have to play our parts
And don't nobody give a damn about our broken hearts, yeah
As a man, we gotta pave our way
Our only function is to work and slave
There's no respect for you if you ain't paid
You're disregarded as a human and you can't complain
And if you ever make it up and actually reach that place
And find a woman that you love and give her your last name
You'll feel the things that you provide is only why she stays
And when you try to explain, you'll say

[Chorus]
I can't hide myself
I don't expect you to understand
I just hope I can explain
What it's like to be a man (What it's like to be a man)
It's a lonely road (It's a lonely road)
And they don't care 'bout what you know (Care 'bout what you know)
It's not 'bout how you feel
But what you provide inside that home

[Verse 2]
Don't give up, keep fightin'
As a man, our son is our horizon
And our fathers' actions play a role and we end up like him
So they can't let us see them hurt
'Cause they'll embody what we do and start a generational curse
No wonder most men are so depressed
All the things that they can't express
They go to war, get thrown on the shelf
Then go back to war with they mental health
Then grab that bottle and ask for help
Try to pull themselves out of hell
Then fall back down and then realize
That they gon' have to do it themselves
It's the circle of life, as a man, you provide
They don't know what you're worth 'til the day that you die
And that's when they start cryin'
Then move on to a man to confide in
That's why we feel

We can't hide ourselves
We don't expect you to understand
We just hope we can explain
What it's like to be a man (What it's like to be a man)
It's a lonely road (It's a lonely road)
And you don't care 'bout what we know (Care 'bout what we know)
It's not 'bout how we feel
But what we provide inside that home (Inside that home)
That home
It's not 'bout how we feel
But what we provide inside that home (Inside that home)

Being a man is hard work but we must stand tall and keep pushing because we have families that rely on us. Keep being strong my brothers!

I send this Powerful song to 14 males friends of mine including my son. I Am a woman, but this song it shows how men also have a purpose, a heart full of life and feelings. Beautiful to the core no matter their race ethnicity, culture or country. They are men! Creation of God's Grace and Masterpieces of Love! 🙏

That's why men have Moms. We see you when no one else love you as unconditionally as you love others. We'll always see how you how you become a very special, smart, and handsome man. We see your heart....and the only thing we care about is who you are, not what you have or what you can give. The only thing we want is a little of your time and your love. And when we are gone, I hope the memories of our love and support last for your lifetime.

No one other than a man that has been broken, can truly understand this song

Wow, that hits hard. I have so much respect for the men that do provide for their families.
My son is autistic, so I don't work but I hope to god that my man doesn't feel like he is only wanted & needed to provide for us. I hope he knows that I am here 100% for him if he needs to talk, shout, cry.
I'm with him because I WANT to be, not because I NEED to be. My Daddy raised me to fend for myself, to do the DIY that needed doing, so I don't need to rely on a man for that. I'd live in a cardboard box with my man, as long as we're together, we can get through anything ❤️

Wow this song just made me bust out crying. I finally understand my husband now. I didn't understand what he was saying when he says oh I'm stressed u don't know what I'm going thru. He does a lot for me and our kids he allows me to stay home while he struggles to pay bills. All he expects is loyalty, a clean house and some food to eat. I've been selfish going thru my own mental stuff and I blamed him when it wasn't his fault. Men aren't weak at all. I've literally only seen him cry a few times in the 10 years we been together. He's a strong man and a good man. I need to treat him better before I lose him ❤

This song is definitely making me more understanding of my husband position and being able to understand my brother as well .. as a female, we tend to be selfish, only thinking of ourselves worried and focus on getting what we need from the man in our lives without considering the struggles they're put in just to provide.. then we get upset or mad because they couldn't provide enough.. I understand truly that is unfair to treat them that way. so I believe this song definitely helps me to open my eyes on a whole new level of things and being more understanding of my husband and even towards my brother and it helps me to be more patient with them now. This song is emotional and real talk. Hands down.

Wow, my son who's partly feeling exactly like some of what this song talks about just sent me this link. This is deep. To all of you guys struggling with a similar situation, talk it out, do not bottle it up inside. Know you are worth more than a paycheck ❤
