⭐QUESTION: What is one of the BEST and WORST foods you have had on a cruise?

Ketchup and mustard sits out in landbased restaurants, also.

Order a omelet at the buffet - always someone there to make it fresh for you! Thx for the videos.

I'm a retired food safety specialist (health inspector) of over thirty years experience. I'm not sure who the "experts" are but they don't seem to have food safety in mind. The CDC publishes food outbreak information from the cruise industry. Many of the recommended foods have no kill step (cooking) which increase their risk for foodborne illness. Eating from the buffet or self serve ice cream always has the risk of cross contamination from other passengers. Raw oysters wasn't even mentioned, which I avoid now that I'm older. The biggest problem is over-eating. Good topic though.

"The liquid mix" used to make scrambled eggs are pasteurized eggs in a carton. This practice was started up in the 1980s at the request of boards of health in many states to reduce salmonella poisoning in mass feeding situations like cruise ships, universities, hospitals and large hotels. They are deemed to be safer than shell eggs as well as the machines that would separate eggs from the shell.

Never had a bad meal on any of the cruises we’ve been on; probably the best food we’ve had would be filet mignon and prime rib. We also love Guy’s Burgers!

My aunt & I
loved RCL scrambled eggs at the buffet daily. They were hot and were constantly bringing fresh scrambled and fried eggs. And RCL had the most delicious fresh bread and rolls. Raisin bread was best ever.

We loved our mornings at the Windjammer and ate out on the deck.

I always bring some Pepto just in case. I eat anything and everything 😂

I had chicken on RCL when in a family group in MDR. When I cut it, the inside was uncooked. I told everyone on the table not to eat their food if they had chicken. I was discreet when I spoke to the waiter and he removed it. The Head Waiter came over and apologised profusely and she said I should never have been served that. I was just glad none of us had tasted it!

The Mongolian wok on carnival is one of my
Favorite free offerings
The eggs at the Mexican place are the best on the ship for breakfast

Excellent info! Regarding condiments, I'd just say that mustard and ketchup have some acidity, likely enough to kill germs.

The most memorable dish that I've had on a cruise was lamb shanks with leaks on an NCL cruise.

After decades and dozens of cruises, I’ve never gotten sick. My favorite always is crème brûlée and chocolate melting cake on Carnival cruises. Just like on land, my favorite meal is lobster and prime rib. On several other cruise lines I’ve had things that were not something I’d order again, but I’ve never had anything that was not enjoyable.

This is so funny I've literally literally eaten every single food on your list, except for sushi, which I don't eat normally. I've never had a problem. I've always been on Norwegian cruises.

We do get omelets made to order in the buffet. I agree about avoiding the scrambled eggs.

Don't remember a worst, but my 2 favs on Carnival are the Mongolian Wok and 2nd, in spite of what the food people say, I'm' not giving up my Guy's Burgers and fries. 😊

I watch what I eat the rest of the year, so when I cruise it's all about enjoying as much food as I want with no guilt. The hard rolls are my very favorite food on the ship.

As far as self serve ice cream goes, not sure about other cruise lines, but Royal Caribbean always has a employee serving you the ice cream

You can get fresh eggs on the buffet not just scrambled. At least if you are on a Carnival ship that is as you can order fried eggs at the omelet station. Yes not really the buffet but right next to it and on some ships they have additional omelet stations. Cheers 🍳🪺🥚
